"The room was inadequate to be described as having disabled facilities."

3.0

We asked for a disabled room. The bathroom was good. however, the bedroom was poor, the bed was too high for my wife to get in without assistance. Also there was no emergency pull cord or phone which meant if a disabled person had a problem there was no way of summoning help. The smoke alarm was so sensitive it triggered when I used the shower and did not fully close the bathroom door, I could not cancel the alarm because there was no way of contacting reception.

"Mercure, dig deep and get this hotel sorted!!!"

3.0

The staff were lovely, and worked really hard. The same girls manned the reception as did the breakfasts and were responsible for the general running of the hotel. They were pushed to their limits and did very well under the circumstances. The management need to help these poor girls out!!

The hotel itself is very dated and much in need of an overhaul! The whole place was a bit grubby. My biggest complaint was, were were there for a conference, with kids with Additional support needs, most of whom had moderate to severe mobility issues, and were were all put on the top floor, and the lift wasn't working. Our little guy is only 4 so was able to be carried down the stairs when needed, but many of the kids were in their teens and early 20's There were another 2 bus loads of elderly people who also would have benefited from the lift. Someone was called out on the Saturday to fix it... it worked for about an hour then broke down again!! Again the poor girls at reception had to deal with disgruntled customers.... not their fault. I know Mercure are a budget hotel but this place takes it to another level!!

"Avoid"

The staff was lovely. No fault in that. And that's about it tbh

The bathtub had someone's pubic hair in it, the bathroom floor was dirty, full of dirt. The toilet has not been cleaned, the only chair in the room had coffee stains on it. As I pulled the duvet, I discovered some fluff on the sheet too. The bedside table was dusty. The hotel needs a refurb for sure. It stinks. I am not usually leaving reviews but this time I do because I think if you can afford a couple of extra quid book somewhere else, I wish I did.....
