Ramada by Wyndham Diplomat Canberra

Location was great, however the infrastructure maybe 30-50 yrs old. It thus requires regular maintenance and upgrades. The water cistern broke one night, and we were given option either to wait until morning to fix it or change room middle of night, eventually it was fixed while we waited outside the bedroom intil 12am. Shower pipe bust on another day and repair done after waiting for 2 hours. Pools are closed for 2 months and should be advertised clearly online.

Bar and restaurant was cold, aircon set too low

The staff were absolutely lovely – from the always friendly and helpful reception team to those in the bar and restaurant area. Special shoutout to Cheroub (sp?), Jaylo (sp?), Jasmine, and another lovely woman with brown hair (dining area) – all so helpful and welcoming. On my third night, there was a bit of a kitchen fail – I ordered sliders and wedges at the bar and waited nearly an hour, only to be told the kitchen was backed up. A little later, I was told they had run out of slider buns, so the meal wasn’t possible. By that stage, I’d had a few drinks and was definitely in need of food! Thankfully, Jasmine and the brown-haired staff member kindly organised a huge bowl of French fries for me – and were so understanding and apologetic, even though it clearly wasn’t their fault. Their kindness and professionalism over the whole stay meant I really didn’t mind the hiccup – these things happen, and I assumed the kitchen may have been short-staffed as there is a lot of sickness about this winter. Importantly, the charges were removed without me needing to ask, and it was all handled with grace. Your team truly made it a non-issue. The staff are your greatest strength – they made my stay memorable for all the right reasons.

Overall a very good experience

The Canberra Ramada has been around for a while so the decor is a little dated, but look past that. The staff are 5 star, the hotel is spacious, quiet and very relaxing. Centrally located if you want to head to Canberras best restaurants in 5mins, close to airport and excellent value for money. Way better than the local opposition in my view!

Bathroom design need to change. Toilet was so close to sink and did not have enough place to stand. Breakfast option should be buffet

The room was freezing when we arrived. Surely you can get housekeeping to put the heating on before guests arrive. Also everytime the front doors open a gust of freezing cold air is let in. Not pleasant in the dining area. The bed was a bit soft for my liking and rooms a bit tired. Would be nice to know there are step in bath/showers when booking. A falls risk for those getting a bit older. Overall not too bad but our main disappointment was being charged for minibar usage which didn’t happen. They did refund but shouldn’t have been charged to begin with.
