La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Peru Starved Rock St Park

Best on the road hotel we have stayed in for awhile. Clean updated room. Nice area with lots of quick food options. This was a better choice than some of the close to $300/night hotels we stayed in during our road trip. A pleasant surprise!

Horrible 4:40 AM SEP 28, 2025. Woke up to bites. Then saw bugs crawling on frame near foot of bed. The hot water was not working which is the reason for the low rating on service. I told the staff and checked out at 5:00 AM and she said the manager should be called at 7am. I called at 7am and they told me the manager would be in at 8AM. I called several times on Sunday. and then directed to call back Monday. No manager on Monday. No callback was made to me. Hotel dark and dirty looking. Hallways look like you're in a scary movie. Door to front desk office kept open by dirty rag on the flooe. Buyer beware.

Bathtub barely drained, bathroom door wouldn’t stay open. Breakfast pathetic. Low end facility.

The room was very noisy. The window frame was bent and the glass not sealed so we heard the highway noise all night. Also the hot tub walls were dirty and there was a haie clump on the floor next to it. Not worth the couple dollars i saved over the hampton and fairfield.

Close to I-80. Nice facility.

Great restaurant. Jalapenas. Really good food. Walkable. We were looking forward to using the hot tub, but it was pretty dirty with clumps of hair floating. Hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Check in and staff were very pleasant. We also had a barking dog for part of the evening.

Our room smelt like a cigarette even though it was non smoking looked at 2 rooms, when I opened the door for the bathroom the door knob fell off. Hair on shampoo dispenser and caked dry shampoo. At 0900 am when breakfast was ended no breakfast items left every food warmer was empty they never refilled it. Staff in morning did not care, not accommodating.

Everything was great but have two recommendations. Put grab bars in all showers and tubs. And fix the tub faucet--when the shower is on, half of the water pours out the tub faucet--very wasteful. Otherwise things were great.
