Residence Inn by Marriott Bloomington by Mall of America

Very nice hotel. Close to Mall of America.

The hotel was very close to Mall of America, and it also offered complementary shuttle to the Mall. The staff during the first shift was great, they were very kind and explained everything/scheduled the shuttle for us and even gave us coupons book for the Mall of America. The staff the next day was not so great, we called for the shuttle, and they forgot to tell the driver, so we had to wait at the Mall for the shuttle to pick us up. Breakfast was free and pretty good. The room was good but outdated and thus not very pleasant to be in it.

The first room they gave us smelled like cigarettes and needed repairs. There wasn’t even a cabinet door for the sink. The plumbing was exposed. They gave us a smaller room, told us they would charge us less, than charged us more. 2nd room smelled like curry, but at least it’s not cigarettes, so we dealt with it. Front desk was unhelpful and they had us call the 800 number. Operator on the 800 number was not a fluent English speaker. Never staying with a Marriott hotel again.

This was a great hotel for a family of 5. We love the kitchenette area and the ease of location by the Mall of America. Breakfast was good and we will stay here again for sure!

Pull out couch and one bed were not comfortable. TV kept turning off and glitchy. The room was big and fit our family of 5 well. There also was not a hot tub and the pool was cold.

We were here for a night in a two-bedroom suite. The three stars are because they accommodated our request for a high-floor and quiet room. Unfortunately, one of the bedrooms had a broken toilet that would not flush, and we noticed it within 5 minutes of check-in. Their courteous maintenance staff tried to repair it at night but could not. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, and they could not move us to a different room. The rooms require updates, and the water-saving toilets create more problems by wasting more water due to multiple flushes. I also noticed that Marriott has given the management of this property to a third party. Overall, in Minnesota, we were quite disappointed at the quality of Residence Inns. However, the service here was friendly, and the staff got all stars.

Great place for families! Very conveniently located near restaurants, highways and the Mall of America. Complimentary breakfast was a nice option. Outdoor tables/seating was a nice place to relax and keep an eye on the kids. We would stay here again.

Everything was very tidy, very nicely done. Kitchen was well appointed and dishwasher tablets were provided. The only issue we had was the pull out couch was in disrepair so my son just slept on the couch itself. Room and area around the hotel were very quiet. Very easy to get to the Mall of America and Ikea, but they also provide a shuttle to the mall.

Affordable and convenient location. Close to Mall of America and easy to get to downtown Minneapolis.
