Caliente Tropics

Our favorite spot to stay in Palm Springs, the pool is perfect for lounging, the restaurant makes good food, the bar is a great little Tiki spot with tasty drinks. The staff is always very helpful and the rooms are a great value. Great place to stay in Palm Springs, close to downtown but just far enough away that traffic and crowds are minimal. They work very hard at the hotel to make it welcoming and it shows. They also allow your pets to stay with little to no issues that I have encountered.

The Caliente Tropics is a classic vintage PS motel with a lovely pool and fun tropical decor with shaded places to sit. I stay here often because it's affordable, and walking distance to plenty of fun spots including The Amigo Room and The Purple Room. Also, the best bike rental place, Big Wheel, is across the street. You can get to Indian Canyon springs and ancient palm forest (on the beautiful Agua Caliente reservation) and Taquitz Canyon in no time on a bicycle. Gabino's Creperie is also across the street, so good. The Reef tiki bar and Sancho's Mexican Restaurant are next to the pool, and are both awesome.

While walking around your pool and grass area, I truly felt like I was in Hawaii. The piped in music, palm trees, tikis, tiki torches, and the breezes took me away. The Reef was great! Cameron and Alex at the bar were very hospitable and the drinks were spot on. Perfect having a tiki bar on site. The decor was very polynesian, and matched the theme beatifully. Beautiful pool area! Well kept! And LOVE LOVE LOVE all the perfectly placed tikis throughout.

The shower was very hard to turn on. The water was milky. Water would go hot and cold - not consistent. No décor in the rooms. plain walls and beds - nothing that made you feel it was a tropical escape in the room. Curtains were a whole different theme. Disappointed with the décor of Sancho's. The tropical tribal feel of the Tikis clashed with the bright velvet sombreros with sequins and sparkles. The Sancho's logo everywhere was not necessary - fast food vibe. The food was GREAT!, and the service was wonderful!, but the décor was very distracting since it did not match the property. A focus on the organic Mexican decor with the pyramids and Sea cliffs, even blending cultural art that would blend the two worlds together would be a nice twist. The lucha libre mask t-shirt rack did not feel appropriate. Lighting was harsh, tables were not matching, no effort put into the décor - A let down when everything else was so tropical and flowed well. There were boxes out which should be in a storage room, and made the bar area of Sancho's feel like you were disturbing the storage room. Amanda the bartender was THE BEST, but the decor of the place - which is a big draw being part of an ICONIC property- felt like they just gave up. No effort.
