Americas Best Value Inn Zumbrota

This is the only place to stay basically between Minneapolis and Rochester, Minnesota. I’m here on a Saturday night and every hotel I checked on wanted hundreds of dollars which is crazy for a night stay. I chose this place because of the decent prices. I paid $79 which it’s probably about $20 too much for this motel. There’s no bathrooms in the lobby, my room, which is on the second floor, no elevator, looked pretty good. Hard floors, nice TV and looks like a clean bathroom. Upon a little bit more inspecting, I found that the lock on the door is broken, the shower rod curtain has been recently resecured to the wall, and I noticed the pillows are disgusting. There’s stains on several of them, the other two pillows are plastic, like a hospital pillow. No good. This place definitely needs more maintenance and some upgrades like new pillows! There is a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room, the bed is firm, but being being a seasoned traveler I wouldn’t stay here again.

Our stay was nice. The room was clean, the staff super friendly and helpful. There was something on the bedspread, I took it down to the front desk, she appologized and got me a different one. When I got back it was on that one as well. I took it back, we decided it had to be something that got in the wash because they'd been washed and looked the same. the last one had it as well, but we just didn't use. We didn't need it. Everything else was fine. Nothing fancey but meets the needs and was a great price.

You can tell that the building is a bit old, but it is scrupulously clean. The staff is friendly and more helpful than I expected. We arrived in the middle of the night, but had no problem checking in. The location feels safe even though a bit remote from town and a really good restaurant, The Covered Bridge, is just across the parking lot. It was a great base of operations for visiting family in the area, taking in some shows at the casino, and touring the town.

Our room had mold above the window, My wife woke up with a headache from it. When we told the employee who checks people in she immediately went to work to find us another room, as we were staying two nights.

I knew well that a room for about $78/night with tax may come with challenges. The area was convenient enough and Zumbrota is a nice little town. The room had nice laminate floor that was clean. I had to check the beds for bugs and happy to report that was not an issue. What was an issue was a urine stain on the sheets of one of the beds. This was really the only issue with our stay, but if the standards are that low, it made me wonder what else was not truly clean? Check in was a breeze and friendly. I'd give this place another shot to be honest, but only one more. Maybe I'm just cheap!

My requirements for our 2 night stay- safe, quiet, decent bed and clean. This place meet those items! Plus it wasn't smelly and water pressure was high so those were a plus. Expect walls to have small holes from moving a towel rack or something so just from screws but for $60/night it was what we needed for just a place to sleep.
