The Freeport Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

This is not a newly renovated hotel. It was so dirty and disgusting. There was black mold on the shower curtains and the carpet was so dirty my clean socks turned BROWN a half hour after putting them on. If you google this hotel you will bring up review after review that say the same thing. Everyone, including us, gets the same form letter acknowledging it. There must only be one clean room in the entire place. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I stayed at The Freeport Hotel for three nights recently. Of the four hotels I've stayed at in the Freeport area in recent years (three of which could be considered budget hotels, like The Freeport), this hotel was one that provided poor value for money spent. The bed was uncomfortably soft, the foam pillows uncomfortably high and lumpy, and the walls were thin. In addition, the complimentary breakfast was not well managed. Milk for cereal was missing one morning, yogurt another. I wound up going off-site to eat two of the three mornings.

Our room was spacious and clean. THe area was quite quiet although dining choices were POOR. Our breakfast was so-so. Not until 7:40 or so did we see eggs and sausage -- other choices were so-so. Grounds at lodging had minimal landscaping -- NOT real attractive.

Newly Renovated?” …If By Renovated You Mean Musty Mold & Leftover Hair Wow. What a gem! If you love sleeping in a damp carpet that smells like wet dog and mold, this is your dream vacation spot. Who needs clean sheets when you can play “find the stranger’s hair” in your bed and on your facecloth? Bonus points for the black mold ring in the microwave and hair in the fridge—because nothing says luxury like a side of fungus with your leftovers. The king bed? Felt like lying in a sinkhole. The “updated” bathroom? Dirty tub, grimy window—super chic. Pro tip: keep your shoes on at all times unless you’re into squishy carpet adventures. If you have allergies, asthma, or, you know, standards—do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. Photos look nice because Photoshop is free. Reviews are glowing because apparently fiction is too.

The door handle was out of adjustment so very hard to get door open the faucet in the bathroom was very loose nothing holding it down . The remote didnt have a battery cover so the batteries would fall out . It sonetimes seems like when i use Hotels.com i get a poor room

Quite clean, and quite close to lots of Freeport's many stores, but otherwise rather average overall, the one exception being good pancakes for breakfast.

Rooms were clean but a little outdated. What I would expect for their price point tho so was not an issue. Good location. Staff friendly. Breakfast was good as far as options offered, but their fridge for holding milk, cream cheese, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs was not working right. The thermometer there was at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and they had a small ice pack in there but thats not good food safety practice so we were a little leary to eat anything from there and made us question their overall food safety practices.

The staff were not cheerful. I asked for a change of towels (they don't do *anything* with the room unless you ask), but that didn't happen, so we boosted towels from the cleaner's carts. Later in the stay, I asked for them to clean, and they did that time. Worst part, they utterly failed my "mud" test. After I'm in for the night, I prefer walking barefoot in the room. When I next get in the shower, I look to see how much dirt, lint, and other people's hair I track in. Probably the worst I've ever seen.
