Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach

Beautiful hotel, clean room with a fabulous view of the ocean, Waikiki beach and Diamond Head. We had the brunch and ate lunch in the bar… both a little expensive…. but also very good food and excellent service.

The positives We stayed in a diamond sea view room which was clean, spacious, well thought out and comfortable with a view that will stay with us forever . A lovely touch on arrival to be given a beautiful fresh Lei made from fresh orchids- beautiful and memorable. The location could not be better, staff over all (I will come back to that) are so friendly and attentive - the breakfast crew are off the charts great. Breakfast is good value with a great team that look after you so well . 49 dollars buffet sets you up for the entire day. The negatives Tiny pool with so very few sun beds with shade that are all taken first thing in the morning. Half a dozen or so on the beach, again all taken first thing … Meaning that you have to pay 100 dollars for two beds and shade at the next hotel or lay on the sand with no shade in red hot heat - it’s a big big big let down . Secondly pay 20 percent tip on everything - but - ask for a small cup of milk for the morning brew in the room ( we ran out of the free pots provided) and you might as well ask for the moon , the reply, politely - no - ask at the bar - ask in the morning - but no one will go out of their way to help - after paying everyone a 20 percent tip - that leaves a sour taste . On balance a good hotel - we will remember the many positives and put the negatives aside . It was a memorable stay - one we will cherish

Perfectly located in the middle of Waikiki Beach, the beautiful Moana Surfrider did not disappoint on any level. Upon arrival, stepping from our transfer bus, a baggage handler met us with a big smile and Aloha welcome. Reception also warmly welcomed us and bestowed beautiful orchid leis which kept for the entire week of our trip. We were incredibly lucky to be able to get an early checkin, maybe they knew we needed it after a 10.5hr flight from Australia. The historic Banyan King room we booked did not disappoint. The room was compact but very well appointed. Modern furnishings blended with beautiful yester-year charm made for a very stylish room. All the services from hotel cleaning staff, tour desk, bar and food service people were just wonderful - genuinely interested in our trip and plans, offering suggestions and places to see. Amazing weather put the cherry on top of our trip. The people and culture is truly alive and they love their home. We will be back and the Moana Surfrider will be first on the list to book.

The windows could only be opened a few inches, understanding it would be a safety issue not to open more tho. On some late afternoons we did wish there was room food service, but that would been dangerous!

Amazing hotel in an amazing location. We spent there one week and we eould like to do that again. We really like colonial style hotels and Waikiki is absolutely amazing.

Beds are awful. Location is great for beach but room noisy, no lighting, no blackout curtains just shutters that let light in. Windows are like paper. Staff is nice. Overall overpriced old hotel
