Fantastic location for one night between flights

The receptionist who checked me in was friendly and helpful, a great start. The room itself was excellent: comfortable, spotless, with a great shower, and a location you can't beat, just minutes on foot from departures.

The Commune restaurant let the side down. I live in Africa and spend a lot of time in South Africa, where service is consistently excellent, so the gap was obvious. I'd planned only a quick stop before heading off for the afternoon with friends and asked the waitress to bring drinks and bitterballen so we wouldn't be held up. A different waiter then took over, the order seemed to disappear, and the food only arrived after I'd chased it twice and we were already on a second, overpriced round of wine. By then it was too late to go anywhere, so we stayed. Noise was the other problem: guests playing videos and calls aloud, and a television turned up too high. A waiter eventually asked one man to turn down the volume on his phone, but that shouldn't rely on a guest speaking up.
