"Awful option - Bad Air Conditioner and Breakfast"

2.0

I stayed there during the Carnival. Air conditioner wasn’t enough to keep it cool. I called the maintenance, they told me it’s predictable considering the central air conditioner capability. One elevator was broken and it was kept closed for more than 4 days. So there were long queue to get in. Sometimes I spent more than 7 minutes to reach my floor. Breakfast is poor, there is no honey for example. They keep table cloth even after a lot of people eat over it. So dirty tables. It’s in the underground and the air conditioner doesn’t work properly. I’ve stayed and much cheaper hotels that offers better breakfast. It’s switching the restaurant concessionaire, but it takes more than 3 months and the hotel has no room service. If you got there after 11 pm, you will need to call a pizza delivery nearby. If your travel is either business or family leisure I’m sure you can find a better and cheaper place to stay around. Highly not recommended.

"Terrible"

2.0

I stayed a couple of times in this hotel some 8 or 9 years ago. It was not great then and time was not kind to it. Long wait for check-in, not because of a long queue or few attendants. Bad management, it seems. Old, poorly kept room, dirty bathroom, weak air conditioning. Room Service number is automatically transferred to a pizza joint - in fact a pizza cart, located in the hotel lobby (really), and only then you discover that the hotel does not have a proper room service. The menu is limited, the pizza is awful, horribly expensive, not chargeable to the hotel account and they do not provide receipt! I did not expect much for the price, but this is so bad that besides not staying in this hotel ever again, I don’t feel like staying in any Transamérica property. Barra has definitely better options. Run from this one.

"Not a nice experience "

6.0

Shower is not hot at all. Breakfast is horrible with few options of low quality. Staff is rude. Not what you would expect for the price tag. Location is ok but if you can, choose somewhere else. Barra has better options.

"Expensive and not good at all"

4.0

Restaurant service is definitely the worst there. Breakfast has a lot of items, but not that good quality, the whole bread is no 100% whole, cheese aren't brand new, there is no sandwich toaster. I have bought a wine bottle in the supermarket to drink at my room. As I ordered in the room service a sandwich (that came to my room completely cold and I had to ask to heat it) plus 4 beers and also I asked for a corkscrew to open my wine. They said me that I should pay an almost USD 10 fee just to use the opener at my room !!!!!!!! It's an absurd, I have been in several different hotels in the world and in a wide range of price, I have never seen a hotel's restaurant charges a fee to offer a corkscrew !!!!!!! Besides it, as I complained about the price, the employee told me that, if I paid in cash, he could open it for the half of price (bribe). I said thanks, however I couldn't agree with that, I use to pay tip, not anything like this. On the other hand the lobby's staff is efficient and kind. If you don't want to deal with these situations, I highly not recommend this stay.

"Very bed service on reception"

4.0

This hotel is partelly owned by private owners (appartments) and part is hotel. The staff on the reception are pure, they dont know what they are doing, not helpful, not smile. They are absolutelly chaotic, changing reservation and room numbers by them self. Not professional!

"Check change at restaurant"

6.0

Stayed there for the Olympics. All was great until I got short-changed at the restaurant. In the UK the customer is right but here the staff gathered and all took the side of the cashier. It was quite an upsetting moment but I caved in because I was so busy and tired. Now I wish I'd complained to reception.

"Great Hotel in Barra"

8.0

This is a great giant hotel in a peaceful community in Barra de Tijuca-Rio de Janiero. Walking distance to local café, market, and other condominiums. Giant Supermarket is about 7minute walk away and gas station in the corner with hot food and groceries as well. Few minute drive to major malls and shopping centers in the area. About 1hour and change to the airport. And about 30-45min to anywhere else tourist popular like Copacabana, sugarloaf, ipanema beaches (uber/taxi), Bus transit near by. I rented a room via a private owner and it was amazing upscale with kitchen and bathrooms. No complaints 5 stars to my condo owner. But the hotel itself has great room service (great food), and housekeeping. The front desk staff are extremely polite and know several languages. I visited for the Olympics and had a diverse group of worldwide guest. The Barra beach is about a 2min walk to a ferry that is accessible with room key free of charge, and takes you across the channel/canal to go to the beach which is about a 5min walk. The pool is freezing, and the gym is a bit outdated but overall average.

"fine hotel in Rio but far from the beach"

8.0

It is a fine hotel in Rio with a good price/quality relationship bu far away from the beach so I would recommend it for business but not for vacations. The pool, spa and sauna are nice. The breakfast is great too.

"Friendly Atmosphere"

8.0

The hotel has a good location in Barra de Tijuca and is slightly away from the main road. Mostly suitable for business trips as it has small but clean rooms. The best part of the hotel are the staff members who are friendly, cooperative and try to guide you, when asked.
