Belizean Nirvana

Nice place but we found a cockroach.

The issue was the owner. We drove from San Ignacio so didn’t know our timing. We were early by about an hour. He lectured and scolded us. Ridiculous. Such a bad start. His worker was cutting weeds and a rock hit the back windshield of our car - in his secure parking lot. He never acknowledged or apologized at all. Just could have been so much kinder. Really rude owner. Staff was lovely.

Everything about this place is perfection - exquisite private beach, wonderful complimentary breakfasts on the rooftop terrace, great outdoor shower right in front of the rooms, delightful staff. The list of wonderful things goes on and on, including the most fabulous hosts, Barbara and Evan who are super friendly and always up for a visit and a chat when they are in the office. They used to run a tour company and are a font of info and connections if you need help with activities. Barb even had a colleague that was an expert on visiting the ruins at Tikal and was able to answer a bunch of our questions as we were heading to Guatemala to visit Tikal after our stay at Nirvana. What a magical place! And so relaxing - food and activities just a short walk away. Or wander down the 'street' to one of the local food shacks to Kendra's or Annie's or Carmen's and bring back a meal to eat on your private veranda. And best gelato we've had outside of Italy from the shop in town, and the freshest produce at Greg's is just minutes away. Ming's Grocery just a short walk, too, for toiletries, liquor and other staples. Ice, coffee makings, towels, robes and daily housekeeping all provided by a sweet and charming staff. The hotel beach is tidied daily and pillows and fresh covers put on the sun loungers. Gated parking available if you have a rental car like we did. Oh, and if you have an early activity planned and can't make breakfast? They will bring it to you the night before to your room! Can't say enough wonderful things about this fantastic B&B - and we haven't even talked about it's perfect location. Want a beach bar experience with live music? Just wander up the beach a bit to Barefoot Bar. Want the best cheap and cheerful fry jacks and tacos? Stroll down the sidewalk to Momalicious. Basically it is as it's name suggests, NIRVANA. We have already reserved our stay for next season...we suggest you do the same before they are booked solid!

Wonderfull property with an awesome staff.

Location was good, close to most things you would like for a relaxing vacation, bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Continental breakfast was a nice touch in the morning. Staffing was very pleasant.

The only thing that was inconvenient was the distance to pull your luggage to get to your room but you only need to do it twice on your vacation but they do have a service to retrieve it for you and were happy to do it.

Fantastic place and people that operate the Nirvana, they took very good care of my family, we had two suites. My wife and I in one and sister and her boyfriend in another. Close to all eating and excursion pickups. The most accommodating place we have ever stayed. Thank you Evan and Barbara and we'll go back in a heartbeat.

I would stay here again. Location is great and walkable. Room was big, clean, and right on the beach!

A fantastic place, location and staff! They went above and beyond for a special request we had. Rooms are quiet, clean and spacious. They also offer a rooftop breakfast. Great walking distance to everything. Beautiful beach right in front! Dreaming about our next stay.

Great location & low key, under the radar reserved experience. Very good management. Price is good to ensure a level of exclusivity to ensure guest privacy is maintained & customer service is reasonable.

Furnishings a little bit dated (i.e., couch in living room) & front area patio chair... could be a little more fresher... but acceptable for stay.
