We recently stayed at this hotel and left feeling rather underwhelmed, particularly given the price point. While the welcome on arrival was warm and check-in was efficient, the overall experience did not justify the cost. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of the room. The standard of housekeeping left an awful lot to be desired and raised questions about the hotel's cleaning procedures and quality checks. For a four-star hotel, we expected much higher standards. The spa facilities were also disappointing. The steam room was out of service during our stay, and the pool area was much smaller than anticipated, which further detracted from the experience. Upon departure, we raised our concerns regarding the room with the reception team. Unfortunately, the response felt dismissive and there appeared to be little interest in addressing the issues we had encountered. Overall, for the amount we paid, we expected a significantly better experience. There are other hotels offering superior facilities, cleanliness, and service at a fraction of the price. As a result, we will not be rushing back.

-Location / views -Staff very attentive but did look stretched - hotel lovely and clean - gardens maintained well - direct access to Grasmere lake (we took our own paddle boards) - spa area small but well equipped and provided a lovely little escape - lunch food was good quality - overall service excellent

-Shower pressure/ water temperature in the morning was awful and cold - no usb charging in the room !! Very old school - terrace seating only has 6 people tables (approx 12 in total) - no 2 or 4 person tables so we found multiple tables taken up by just 1 or 2 people - nearly impossible to find one for lunch.
