Summerhill house

Please please do not ignore all the reviews. Forget being comfortable- you will not be safe in this hotel. The outside area is incredibly shabby, has plastic grass sheeting over an area that is uneven and includes steps, and is full of broken glass. It is not staffed except to let guests in, and there are no locks on the front gate or front doors, only on the cheap flimsy room doors. The shared bathroom door didn’t lock properly - although, as a staff did point out when I mentioned it, if you kicked the door hard enough for long enough, it would sometimes just about line up enough to lock. The shower was mouldy and filthy. The shared “kitchen” was a closet sized room with a sink, no kettle or any heating facilities - I was told by the same staff member that the lack of facilities was because people kept walking in through the unguarded, unlocked front door and nicking them. The mini radiator in my room was on when I got into my room (which was filthy and had dirty sheets): I turned it off and unplugged it because the cable had fully snapped and was held together with a wodge of LX tape. I was cold and my room stank and I barely slept, but I must have slept a little because I was awoken in the early morning by a fellow guest shouting at a staff member because there had been an electrical fire in the night. Please please don’t book this dangerous, disgusting place.

first of all got kicked out of summer "hell" house because the electricity got cut out by the government (I suspect they running a scam and not paying bills) everyone had to evict property or chose to stay in absolute darkness and dampness... caught rats running from toillet to kitchen areas many times.. not sanitary,when confronted the manager all he did was put a litle plaster where the holes where for the rats and called it a day, didnt even bother to set up rat traps, should be condemened and shut down! no security front door open to anybody to go in and out, many times saw crack heads and junkys going in and helping themselves to the food in the fridges and shower facilitys, the manager (ibrahim\abuzakaria) or what ever his name is prooved to be very hostile, specialy to foreing people leaving in his hell hotel, saw with my own eyes him and his "posse" including his son and someone else threating an indian person to leave because of his origins, as for myself because im western didnt even heard a peep. when electricity got cut out got lied to my face enumerous times, at first he was saying 2 days for the problem would be fixed.. then a week, and then just silence as he would blank out his phone and not answer to nobody. keep in mind that this place was kept open (even tho no electrics) and he was still asking for money from people and as much as i know people continued living there out of desperation up to this date! absulute misery, taking advantage of people who need the most, STAY OUT, is better to be homeless than leaving in those conditions, when i left the place i contacted authorities so am still very surprised to see that they have the audacity to open for business again, cant enphasize enough STAY OUT if you love your life go else where. honestly they should be held accountable for all the families that had to endure in those conditions, absolute management mess, would never see the owners, only when checking new people in to make money, no house keeping, no toilet washing, no kitchen washing, stains on the beds and walls, basicly you for yourself, fighting for space in the fridge, getting your food constanly stolen, being woken up every night by the intoxicated comunity, brings me anxiety and tears in my eyes thinking back at my stay at this place.

This hotel was honestly shocking and I spent 2 nights here, no WiFi, no TV, wasn’t clean, was a disgusting smell, share bathrooms which was rotten… bed was not comfy and woke up with sore back and neck after one night, there was a dampness in the room and the heating never worked… spend a better night in the cells rather than these rooms STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS HOTEL!!!! What a crackden… should be shutdown and never be opened again

Absolutely shocking set up. I booked the 4 bedroom apartment and was put in a 2 bedroom apartment, 1 double bed and 2 singles. The 'pillows' were basically cushions you would put on your sofa - although I wouldn't even put them on mine. Tried to get it sorted but after a disagreement and a potential argument with 'the boss' we just left it as he would have to move the people who he had put in our rooms, wasn't worth the hassle. no kitchen, no TV, no WiFi. The 'living' area was dirty, broken mirror, full of dust and like something out-of a horror movie. Definitely NOT what was advertised. Empty needle packets lying outside our room which they tried to cover up as covid tests, however they did apologise when I pointed out I'm not blind and could see what they were. Surprisingly the bathroom was clean...the only decent part of the place. Just a pity it was too small for us all to sleep in.... You get what you pay for but I've paid much less than I did for this place and had more comfortable stays, so that rule doesn't apply here!! Avoid avoid avoid, or make sure you wipe your feet on the way out!!

the room was dirty, sticky cup rings on surfaces, dusty smeary mirror - it had not been cleaned. the bed looked clean, but there was long dark hairs all over it - horrible . the room and corridors smelt strongly of cannabis. we didn't stay, we left the night we arrived - so wasted money as prebooked and paid for in advance. tried to find staff to return the key, no-one was around

I was due to stay at this place on the 17th of September, they cancelled my booking the day BEFORE arrival which now I am thankful for as I don’t know if me and my boyfriend woulda made it out alive from what I’ve read - crack den vibes. From the reviews it seems that this is something they do regularly - how can this place just get away with this all the time letting people down. I lost out on money for trains and bookings I had pre booked as there was no other hotels available for the weekend and the two hotels that were available were £900 ... I relocated to Edinburgh due to this. I called the apartment for some help to see if anything could be done and the “ manager “ answered. Apparently they “refuse to take anything to do with it and i need to speak to booking.com” the so called manager then hung up the phone? Nae bother mate some customer service on you. The reviews show that this place is legit a crack den no other words for it. Guests armed with knifes, prostitution and drugs. Fire alarms always broken waking guests all through the night, couches left outside at the front doors, manager advising make as much noise as you like? Get a grip and get your place sorted out stop doing this to people who are just looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend. Below I will attached a review I saw on booking.com & on here that people can’t miss as this is for your safety. PLEASE VIEW THIS. IF you want a stress free trip actually just scroll past this shambles of a place. Sometimes putting a bit of extra cash into something is the best option & DONT IGNORE REVIEWS.

Turned up, the manager was smoking a joint at 10.30am, said we had booked with a fraud company when he had cancelled it himself!!. Honestly avoid at all costs, shocking set up and manager even worse, joke of a set up

Upon arriving at the property, we did not even get as far as entering the building itself before we found ourselves fleeing back down the street to safety, and never returning. An enraged woman (presumed to be a long-term tenant as she seemed to know everybody in the courtyard) was running around with a large kitchen knife, screaming and shouting calling everybody 'dirty rats.' She came a bit too close for comfort at one point, and gave us a threatening look, so we jogged away immediately. I paid in advance for my stay, and no refund has been offered by the property or booking.com since. As a result of that, I am telling my story to others. I hope this review causes a greater loss of business to the property than it would've cost them to refund me. Just shocking. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid at all costs! I should have paid more attention to the reviews. If I did, I would never book at the place. They have cancelled my reservation one week before the booking — now I’m really struggling to find a place to stay. Massive headache. Massive disrespect.

staff were extremely friendly and did everything to make my stay enjoyable, check in was easy, room was clean, comfortable and affordable, and summerhill house is just next to city centre. what more do you need?
