La Playa Orient Bay

We loved everything! Our second trip and it was perfect!

Based on our experience in New Zealand and the US, it is clear that Booking.com does not offer many of the accommodation options that we saw locally. We chose this facility based on its listing on Booking.com, where it was positively rated and listed as a four-star property. The size of the rooms, proximity to the beach and private parking are all positive features. The rooms are modern, air-conditioned and comfortable. There are also many restaurants nearby where you can enjoy a good dinner every evening. While the beach does not belong to the hotel, it has a contract with a beach club where you can borrow sun loungers (2x) and parasols (1x) free of charge during your stay.

Despite the well-maintained facilities near the beach, a few things significantly damaged our impression of this establishment. Firstly, the staff, especially the white French staff, were unsatisfactory and reserved. When we arrived, we had an issue with parking. Instead of trying to resolve it, the staff merely confronted us. Whenever we passed by the reception desk, the staff consistently ignored us (staring intently at their notebooks with no attempt to make contact with customers). The height of rudeness or lack of coordination among the staff was evident on the day of our departure when, despite having checked out by 11:00, a cleaner came to our room while we were at breakfast and began preparing it for the next guests. We have never experienced anything like this before, especially considering the price range of this accommodation. The breakfast was tasty but very simple, and the same every day, which is disappointing given the high price of this accommodation. At the same time, one member of staff at breakfast clearly did not care about customer service. The other (manager), however, tried very hard and was friendly. One negative aspect for others could be the surprising presence of Russian customers, who were rather noisy. And there were lots of mosquitoes, even near the sea, and they were particularly bad at night!

This is the third time we staying at the property. It’s very cozy and family oriented boutique hotel.

The property was very clean and nice. The proximity to the village restaurants in the evening was wonderful. We tried many and had zero poor experiences. The food was fantastic. The sushi at the property was better than sushi at the local restaurant. Drink service on the beach was prompt. The front desk for excursions was top notch. Bring more cash than you need. No atms near by and tips along with cabs are all cash.

La Playa is phenomenal. Beautiful beaches, exceptional food, and lovely people. Alexandra and Axyl took amazing care of us with drinks on the beach and GP manned the bar each day. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the accommodations at La Playa and Orient Bay.

The resort was beautiful. A bit small but definitely felt like home. The staff at both the reception desk and the restaurant were friendly, courteous and always willing to provide assistance at the resort and for our activities. Having breakfast on the beach every morning was a delight. The ability to walk across to nearby restaurants was also great. Only small downside was the amount of sargassum on the beach daily but the hotel did a great job of trying to clean up so guests could enjoy the beach. All in all a great experience and choice for our honeymoon.
