The property pictures online make this hotel look amazing and in some instances, the pictures match reality.

This hotel has ten rooms so you will have as much peace and quiet as you desire. The beach is small and private,with access at low tide to another beach very close by. The room was large and well appointed and fulfilled all of our needs. The on-site dining was very well done with many delicious choices. The one thing you will want to be aware of is it is secluded from many day or night time activities so plan on Uber or taxis to get you to livelier surroundings.

Hotel Basalto was such a special delight! Set on top of a beautiful overlook, you have unobstructed views of the ocean and lovely breezes all day and night. Its very quiet and peaceful and has all the comforts you need to not leave it for a few days - if that's your thing. If not, the public beach is a half mile walk away and the town of Punta de Mita is a quick 10 min or less cab ride. The staff is wonderful - so helpful, warm and kind. We had in room massages that were amazing and everything was effortless and taken care of for us upon arrival. We stayed in the King Suite ocean view and it was incredible! The hotel is spotless and a lot of care goes into making sure guests have a great experience. I have seen some reviews here complaining about some areas needing upkeep (i.e. rusting metal, warped wood, etc.) But when you feel the % humidity in the air and the sea water spray, you see its not from lack of property care but simply the elements. Now onto the food at the on-site restaurant, Roca Negra. FANTASTIC! Everything is so fresh and prepared by highly skilled chefs who deeply care about making wonderful food! Breakfast is included and starts with a lovely fruit plate and yoghurt, followed by a main plate. Dinner and lunch are fantastic too! A smaller menu, but still lots of options to choose from. The service was wonderful all around. Our gratitude to the entire staff at Basalto for a memorable, deeply relaxing getaway for two tired parents!

We loved our stay here. The staff was so accommodating and nice. And the menu options were amazing.

El hotel está lindo, limpio, la comida en general regular, algunos platillos mejor que otros. Es un hotel para descansar.. si van en plan de divertirse este no es el hotel, la alberca del Roof está climatizada lo cual está super bien, sin embargo, no puedes hacer ruido de más porque enseguida te restringen. Su playa es muy muy pequeña. La atención del personal deja mucho que desear, para el costo del hotel esperábamos una atención más personalizada, lo cual no ocurrió en ningún momento. Las toallas ya están demasiado gastadas. A 5-10 min caminando está la playa más cercana, la cual está espectacular, HERMOSA ahí hay dos restaurantes bastantes ricos ambos, te rentan el camastro y puedes estar ahí todo el día muy agusto.

Perfect hotel, especially if you want to “get away from it all”. Highly recommend booking a room with an ocean view- worth every penny. Great onsite restaurant and spa services- very reasonably priced too. Super friendly and helpful staff. We had a wonderful stay!!
