Its historic character and central location. Room immaculately clean and professionally finished. Parking arrangements.

The chequers is a old fashioned pub with quirkiness the room was perfect and only a couple of minutes walk to the town we will stay again

Ancient building. Good effort made to bring the accomodation up to date. Plenty of electrical outlets for chargers etc. Bedding clean and fresh on comfy bed

Ensuite bathroom was really small. barely room to stand inside. Grinder/macerator toilet flush :-( Handle on door too close to the door frame to grip without smashing your hand on the doorframe. Only venetian blind so not too dark. tricky to operate because the slat closing mechanism was broken off.

Breakfast was excellent location ideal a good place to stay overnight on our travels along the southdowns

Chef was on holiday so no evening meal available though they did recommend an excellent restaurant close by to use.

I know the area well , the deluxe standard room was a far cry, I realise it’s 15 century however an update of room is very much needed
