Chequers Inn

Very little, the building was shabby and in real need of a complete face lift.

Apart from the general shabbiness of the building, we had a ‘deluxe’ room which was pretty far from deluxe. The mattress was completely shot and needed replacing. The ceiling over the sink and other parts of the bathroom was so low I couldn’t stand upright. Generally the room was clean though. The blinds, which have seen better days, need to be replaced with good quality curtains.

Lovely little inn with exceptionally wonderful staff. Great to see dietary needs and accommodated by a very knowledgeable team!

The food was incredible. Sadly they had a private function so I could only eat lunch and breakfast there.

There were a couple of maintenance issues. The door handle to leave the shower room was faulty and stuck. The shower door needs attention. Minor maintenance issues

Loved the 15thC Inn in Battle. Double glazing good to keep traffic noise to a minimum. Comfortable room, tea, coffee complimentary. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, great choice on the menu. We learnt that this Inn is known for its food.

Heating was on in the room due to cooler weather but we could not turn it down so opened the window. If radiators could be checked so that one can change the temperature would be good.

Excellent breakfast and service, but watch out for the service charge.

The location was perfect, a short walk away from the Abbey and Battlefield. The room itself was tidy, had a very comfortable bed and enough space. The pub food was amazingly good!!

wifi in room wasn't very good, thick old walls! blinds in room didn't shut out the light so lots of light coming in in the night.

The food was excellent
