Chequers Inn

The location is good, only a few minutes walk to the Abbey entrance and town centre, but some people may find the traffic a little too much as it is a junction between the town and station. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was very good. The fact that this hotel has a car park is a huge plus.

The furnishing and decoration is very tiered and can do with being updated. The ensuite bathroom is very tight, little more than a converted cupboard. The absence of a bath was fine for me as I am a shower person, but if people prefer a bath they will need to check if the one of the rooms has a bath. The windows need cleaning - I had a lovely view but its beauty was diminished by looking through a grimy window.

Stayed at Chequers Inn, Battle, for three nights and we were very happy with the Inn and its location. We had a very comfortable stay and the staff were friendly. Would stay again if I was in Battle. About equal distance from the railway station and the town centre.

The staff and the food was excellent.

No blackout curtains, walls are fin, and the shower was not good.
