The friendliness of the staff was great , the food delicious and we very much enjoyed our stay.

Bathroom a bit small

My wife and I stayed there for one night. My wife's cousin also stayed. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and full of character. Their restaurant was closed that evening because the chef was ill and the stand-in chef was on holiday. However, the receptionist was apologetic and helpful as they recommended a nearby Thai restaurant that was excellent. My wife's cousin left her spectacles in the room. I emailed the Chequers to inform them and within a few hours I received a phone call telling me that the spectacles had been found and would be kept until the owner returned the following week. I would happily stay there again.

The room did NOT have a king bed as advertised on the Orbitz listing. And read the small print as there was no shower just a bathtub with a handheld faucet, water sprays everywhere. Staff was great. Breakfast and lunch in the restaurant were delicious

Location and staff, full of character.

Because of the age of the property, there was no lift. Lots of stairs and uneven floors. Very busy road outside.

The food was absolutely great and the manager Sue made us feel so welcome
