"Peaceful hide away and base for hiking holidays"

10.0

Each of several handrestaured cottages is individual and charming styled. And well thought equipped, from laundry machine to fireplace. Seperated to the others by wonderful garden areas. We hardly noticed anyone of the other guests. It is good to have a rental car if you want to hike like us, but I could imagine to just sit in the natural garden for a week and look over the wide ocean and read... The owner Hetti is an artist with plants and natural materials! The hiking varieties on Teneriffa are amazing, up in the desert like mountain areas you feel almost like being in Arizona, and then on the other side you find green forests in the mist or deep canyons ending at the ocean. El Tanque, pleasant untouristy, has enough nice restaurants (our favorite is Pizza Paganini with a sometimes singing Italian waitress!), bakery and a supermarket , all in walking distance (5to15minutes). It is good to have warm clothes in spare, even in March there sometimes can be cloudy and fresh days, which we prefer for hiking than too hot weather... Even better than to have the fireplace when you come home...

"Excellent base away from the touristy areas of the island"

10.0

We stayed her for a week in January, we liked the idea of the gardens with areas to sit and the bbq's - we were not disappointed. They offered great views over the ocean and we saw a number of butterflies and birds while sitting there. The cottage was comfortable, tastefully decorated, show casing its heritage (Finca El Lance was at one time a farm) and well equipped. The access to the property is on a steep hill, we used the Av de Colon signposted from the north and followed the road round at the bottom to get to it rather than the google maps suggestion. Walking up the hill to get to the shops and cafeterias was certainly steep! The cafeterias were nice but for us, there is not a lot of gluten free options so you may need to plan meals or go further to eat out, eg in Garachico. Ideally you would need a car whilst you are staying here, to give you flexibility in getting round and exploring El Tiede and the villages and towns in the north. We used autoreissen which has a branch at Tenerife South airport and was very reasonably priced. The owners are lovely with a cute dog Maya. We spoke to Hetti a few times during the course of our stay and is available to talk to if needed

"Genuine Finca with a breathtaking view over the northern coast and the ocean."

8.0

Ideal for a couple or a family with up to two kids (one master bedroom, one bedroom with two single beds). Wonderful, very large garden with many different places inviting for a nap or for a romantic evening with class A sunset view. Reasonably furnished and equipped - and very quiet. Nice owners who live on the compound, but are only visible when needed.

"beautiful area, lovely casita's"

10.0

Finca el Lance offers the feeling off being really on holiday. Lovely decorated finca's , grill for BBQ and nice outside sitting. A lovely garden where you can walk in and sit on different spots, really relaxt. View of the sea anytime. Groceries nearby, very nice bakery near the corner (cheap), lovely friendly people. Hetti is a fantastic guest-women. Helps you with anything with a warm heart. Sun is always around. Most beautiful places nearby/ Top location for people who want to experience "real" Tenerife.

"Lovely cottages in fairytale like surroundings"

10.0

We (me, my girlfriend and our one year old son) stayed at the Finca for three full weeks in January, to escape snowy Amsterdam. We had spent quite some time searching for the perfect place, because we did not want to be stuck in a south Tenerife apartment building. We chose Finca el Lance because it looked a amazing on the pictures (and even better in reality, it turned out) and we preferred the green north over the dry, desert like south. The finca is a perfect base camp from where you can reach all of the sights across the wonderful island of Tenerife. Although the weather isn't always perfect in the north, it is a lot more beautiful and you can easily escape to the south whenever you are in need of some sun & sea. Hetti and Einar were perfect hosts, in fact, our son even started calling Hetti grandma out of nothing! We will remember the nights in front of the fireplace and the breath taking views (ocean and volcano) from the terrace and the beautiful 'botanical' garden. We hope to return some day soon.

Amazing place with superb hospitality and atmosphere. Short way to all the nice places of the north of Tenerife. Small fishing villages and wine farms as well. The finca is great base for hiking and bicycling the nature around.

"Beautiful place"

10.0

What a joy to spend your vacation here. At the edge of the village with a beautiful view on the ocean. Hetty and Hans are the nicest people and ever so friendly. The cottages are a pleasure to live in for a couple of weeks, the garden is very pretty and the dog Maya is ever so cute. Loved every second of our stay at Finca el Lance

"Beautiful, unique and quirky cottages"

8.0

We stayed in finca el lance in September 2013. The finca is in a quiet town which is great if you want to get away from the main tourist strip. It is high up and has lovely views down to the sea. We stayed in the Ana cottage which had 2 sun terraces, one with an ocean view and one which was more sheltered and great for late evening. There were also numerous other terraces and relaxation spots in the garden which are for communal use. The cottage was really well done and had lots of unique touches such as a table reused from a boat and an open fire which we used even though it was 26 degrees! You do need a car to get about, the nearest tourist town garachico is a 10 minute drive down the mountain and is also really nice. All in all we had a fantastic time at the finca and would highly recommend it.
