Holiday Inn Express Rochelle by IHG

Clean and comfortable place to stay. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I was traveling with my daughter and dog and felt very safe, even taking the dog out in the middle of the night. Breakfast was also very good. I would definitely stay here again.

Our room was missing a remote, when we went to the front desk to ask about a replacement, their was no staff present at the desk and we had to say “excuse me,” to get helped. We were then met with attitude by the worker and it seemed like we were inconveniencing her. Same with check in. It took two different remotes to get one working and we had to propose the idea to get one out of an empty room. As we were looking for the remote, we found a dirty pair of socks that wasn’t ours, a dirty used qtip behind the bed and dusty vents. When we showered we had to clean crusted residue off the soap, shampoo and conditioner bottles to even use them. Simple things that really should not be getting missed between guests. The beds were also uncomfortable and we tossed and turned in pain all night long. It was such a shame expecting to go in and get the quality that goes with the name but we definitely didn’t get our moneys worth and there were several areas for improvement.

It was clean and quiet. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was great!

1) The owners of the property don’t allow any alcoholic in the downstairs lounge area. They only allow consumption in your room only because the State of Illinois and City of Rochelle IL confirms that right to room occupants. 2) the clothes washing machines were not operating. 3) the dairy products for breakfast were expired.

Hotel was clean but although the website and here stated there was a pool, the pool was not opened. When talking with the front desk associate he stated it was because it was too cold and “under maintenance”. There was another family that was staying and they stated that they stay there often and the pool is always “under maintenance”. If this is the case, it doesn’t need to be offered as an amenity on here or the website. We would not have booked here due to us having to pay a higher price for that amenity that is not useable. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable.

It’s convenient without being crowded.

Checked in & when went to room someone was already in the room. Left wife upstairs with our luggage while I went downstairs to desk to check with them. Another guest was already at the counter waiting for the desk clerk Said they had been waiting about 10 minutes & no one was around. I called the direct hotel number 4 times & no one picked up the phone. By now had been waiting about 20 minutes. Decided to step outside through the front doors & saw the hotel clerk that had checked me in standing about 50 feet from my right talking on her phone. I motioned to her that I needed assistance with no response back. Went back inside & clerk returned in about 5-6 minutes & helped the gentleman also waiting in from of me. When it was my turn I explained the room situation & was given another room with no apology for my wait, room mix up, & the wrong wi-fi password was also written on my key card to top if off. I was told that the hotel manager would follow up with me the next day which no one from the hotel has done! I contacted IHG corporate & was told the same thing about the hotel manager would contact me… no contact yet. They did give me 15K points for my inconvenience though. Room, breakfast, & parking were good.
