"Needs the May refurb"

8.0

There are many parts of this hotel that desperately need the refurbishment due in May, the shower in our room for example was nothing short of pathetic, however the room was very comfortable indeed. The all inclusive food is passable. But the à la Carte is very nice. The entertainment was very good. Our biggest negative is that some, not all of the staff are grumpy and unfriendly. The bar staff were lovely. Outside of the hotel people were really friendly and you feel quite safe. The ZR $3.50 buses are extremely frequent and entertaining. Overall 3 star is all this hotel warrants. But would we come back, yes we would.

"We loved it!!"

8.0

Just back from a week staying here with family, and must say we were very impressed. We had an amazing room overlooking the fantastic beach, which was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever had. The cleaning staff do a terrific job, they come in every day change towels daily, top up water bottles and tea and coffe, and keep it lovely and clean. I bumped into our cleaning lady once who was very friendly. The choice of food was fantastic, honestly I normally tire of all inclusives after a few days, but not here, there was even a Chinese food night, beautiful. The staff work really hard and do their best to keep everyone happy, especially Sandra, Michelle and Shaun who were fab. The entertainment is provided by local musicians, who are very proud of their heritage, we enjoyed it all very much. The only reason I havent given it 5 stars is because the hotel is very tired, but is closing for a refurb soon, and we did struggle to get sunbeds some days, but neither were a big deal to us, we just sat in chairs around the pool/bar area taking in the stunning views. All in all, there are some very critical reviews lately which I think are very unfair, it's a budget hotel in Barbados for goodness sake, if you want 5 star, pay for it. All I can say is we had an amazing time, loved it and would go back

"Excellent - we will be back!"

8.0

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel - perfectly situated on a beach on the south coast of the island. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The reception staff went the extra mile for us on more than one occasion. Many of our fellow guests were regulars there, which says a lot. Our room was comfortable and clean, with daily house-keeping, and we had a balcony view overlooking the pool and the sea. There is nightly entertainment including some really excellent live performers. The bar was open 11am until midnight and there was plenty to eat. The only reason I did not give five stars is because I’d been given to understand that the hotel had been informed that I’m vegan. This may not have happened and I had to request plant milk which I was promised but, after four days of asking, I gave up and bought my own. The food however, offered plenty of choices for me and I enjoyed it. We intend to book again and are looking forward to it already!

"Absolutely awful – avoid."

2.0

If I could rate it a 0 I would!! This hotel is run-down, outdated, and clearly cutting corners everywhere. Drinks are poured from cheap pop bottles, which feels unhygienic and embarrassing for a hotel of any standard. The so-called beach is tiny, cramped, and completely inadequate for the number of guests. The food was diabolical — barely edible, constantly lukewarm, and kept “warm” with pathetic little gas canisters that clearly don’t work. Staff were consistently rude and unhelpful, with very little care for guests. The entertainment was beyond shocking — disorganised, low-effort, and frankly a joke. There was widespread dissatisfaction among guests, with many openly complaining about the state of the hotel. Reception being hidden behind a plastic shield made communication difficult and felt unwelcoming. This place fails on every level. Do not waste your money or your holiday here.

"Do not stay here"

2.0

What a disgrace of a hotel. This shabby, tired building houses some of the rudest staff I have ever encountered. Nobody working there has any hospitality skills or manners. They will either not respond or when they do there is attitude and disinterest in any of the hotel guests. The building itself is tired and looks nothing like the photos online. They appear to have been taken at least 10 years ago. The furniture is tired and needs replacing, infact the whole hotel needs to be renovated if not knocked down and rebuilt. There are uneven and broken floor surfaces making it a nightmare for elderly or disabled guests. In parts it looks like a disused building site. The "all inclusive" experience consists of a limited number of foods which are basic and no food allergen/ingredients available to view. The food is lukewarm most of the time so please take snacks. The bar is limited to drinks and does not have any drinks optics. Soft drinks are poured from 500ml plastic bottles and not a fresh one each time. The beach is small and picturesque at sunset, however the added bonus of the local drug dealer who climbs the beach rocks and jumps over the broken hotel fence and makes his deals openly. He is never challenged by staff with security staff visibly sleeping on the sofa in the seating area in reception first thing in the morning and nowhere to be seen during the day. Please do not waste your money on this hotel it really is the worst.

"Rather Swim With Sharks"

2.0

Its a dump! Anyone giving this more than a 1* star has been smoking to much ganga on the beach. The island itself is dirty and unappealing, granted the beach was nice but that is were the positivity ends. Rooms are old and decaying with mold and rust on some items, food was ok for dinner but you can be sure for lunch the next day you are getting recycled dinner left overs from night before, served up as something else. Aside from the bar staff and the house keeper who were pleasant, the staff have a serious attitude problem, maybe a hangover from colonial days, the restaurant staff in particular (except for one nice young lady Rhian) were rude and ignorant displaying a huge distain towards us being there, especially the kids. God forbid you ask for an omelet at the omelet station, the total lack of willingness to do the actual job was palpable. Part of me thinks they get paid with takeout or something and the more you eat the less they get, hence the distain. Poor service starts at the top and filters down, the managers were straining to smile at the best of times, I'd rather a week in a caravan in Tramore then stay in this S&*t hole ever again. I couldn't capture photos of kitchen area but if walls behind rubbish bins in buffet area are anything to judge by, god help my bowel in the coming days. I also think the A/C above the bed with its dirty moldy filters contributed to a chest infection. TUI, Air Canada etc. should be embarrassed to have this place on their accommodation lists. Oh! 3 times the toilet ran out of water and needed maintenance to come and make some sort of temporary fix

"Dec 25 - Jan 26"

6.0

The hotel is dated and needs an upgrade. 3 stars. We arrived 22 Dec the Christmas tree in our house was bigger and better than the one in the hotel reception the Christmas decorations were really poor . The new year decorations were a joke . They still have covid barriers up at the reception which takes away the personal touch of talking to reception staff . We were on the 5 th floor the lift mirror had scratches and marks and signs stuck up with dirty old tape . Our room was ok but very dated the fridge door was covered in rust . The toilet is stuck in a corner and you have to do a yoga pose to reach the toilet roll such a poor layout . The room was cleaned daily to a good standard . The balcony had 2 plastic chairs that just were a no . The tennis court in the photo is not the reality the tennis court is in a very poor condition and is across the road . The food is ok but same thing especially breakfast no variety the desserts really poor didn’t know they did ice cream until we saw someone else getting some then you have to ask and wait . There is no day time activities or entertainment. The evening entertainment is ok . This hotel is really for older people I would say 50 plus . The grounds need a tidy up and the ladder leading into the deep end of the pool is a H&S death trap and needs replacing .The gym is small but functional there were 2 green yoga mats that were disgusting that we took down to reception and told them to remove them . The only saving grace is the staff absolutely every member of staff was amazing friendly and nice . The location is good for Oistins and St Laurence Gap .

"Incredibly basic hostel like hotel"

2.0

On our 3rd trip to Barbados we booked this hotel from info and pics on the virgin website. Huge mistake this hotel looks nothing like the pictures and I am surprised to read positive reviews as I could not find anything positive to say . The hotel is more like a hostel with no comfort to be found . The room was clean but unbelievably basic , two old plastic chairs on our balcony overlooking a rubbish tip . The bathroom was better suited to a prison not one nice touch . Outside was not clean and cigarette buts and spilt drinks remained uncleaned from one day to next . The restaurant was just a place to eat and we ate our dinner in 25 minutes and that was that not an enjoyable meal experience just food as your hungry. The pool had towels on beds by at least 6.30 am . The lift had an electric panel hanging off and felt unsafe . The outdoor seating was just upright plastic chairs apart from about 6 comfortable chairs that were dirty and broken . I could go on . We checked out after 1 night and booked ourselves a beautiful air BnB on the beach as did not want to waste any more of our holiday at this hotel . I think Virgin know it’s sub standard as we did get refunded If you have booked here and think like we did it will be ok for a base I suggest changing hotels because once you arrive it is not easy to get assistance. I feel this is an honest review of a hotel that offers no comfort .
