"Barbados delight"

8.0

I just came back from a pleasant solo trip here. I booked this as part of a tui package. The room met my requirements it was clean, spacious equipped with kettle, iron, safe and a fridge. I did not watch much TV, the WIFI worked well across the premises. I had a nice sea view and could watch sunrise each morning. The food was reasonable, some days better than others. for breakfast there is a selection of eggs ( order fried eggs/ omlette first as there may be a wait) , bacon, sausage, pancakes as well as healthier options fruit, cereal etc . pace yourself I was all inclusive but i also ate out at times too. I ate twice in the a l carte restaurant, i enjoyed the quality of the food and the service. The drinks selection was reasonable i enjoyed some cocktails and an abundance of rum- sometimes service at the bar was slow so pace yourself The majority of staff were kind and hospitable shout out to Douglas, nathan, Shaun and others who made me feel at home. The hotel is right on the beach and there are sufficent sun loungers. there are also other beaches nearby. There was some tortoises on the grounds which i enhoued watching. The hotel has so much potential it does need some renovations to make it better but it is generally ok for a 3 star hotel I used the hotel as a base to explore the island, i went on a few excursions including snorkelling , mount gay rum tour, harrisons cave, wild life reserve, Harbour lights and oistins The hotel had entertainment most nights which was ok- i liked the live reggae bands and took part in karaoke. the entertainment finishes at 10pm and there is not much to do after. I took a taxi to st lawrence gap and also walked down to some local bars. I found Barbados to be a beautiful, safe and enriching place (in comparison to some of the other islands) There was never a dull moment. I would stay here again and would reccomend to a friend. Overall it provides good value (by Barbados standards as everything is pricey).

"3 star but really brilliant."

10.0

Nearly at the end of my 2week stay at BBC and it has been fabulous. Our room has a stunning view of the ocean towards Oistins cleaned every day by Nadine who always asked if we needed anything and if all was ok. Room was kept immaculate. Staff all through the hotel were friendly and welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. Restaurant staff always there to welcome, show you to your preferred choice of seat and the food was all good with lots of selection. Thanks to Gail, the chefs and all the staff. The hotel is closing for refurb in March 26 which will improve it's aesthetics but we found everything good. If it's shiny and new you're looking for then BBC is not going to suit you. But comfortable and friendly it fits the bill. Thank you all, we've had a great time, our second visit here.

"My best holiday"

10.0

Fantastic friendly place. Morison and Sandra work so hard behind the bar making great cocktails and they are both in their 70s and retired but love their job. Morison makes the best rum runner ever. But all the staff must be thanked for their friendly meds , fantastic food, rooms and all round helpfulness. Thank you all 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

10.0

Had a wonderful stay here, yes hotel is a little dated but room very clean and the view from balcony was spectacular and from beach unobstructed sea views and was were we spent most of our time as limited beds round pool but no problem as plenty at beach. All staff were lovely and entertainint on evenings was really good 😀 Food limited choices but always something tasty so never went hungry.Location was spot on just a short bus drive to so many places Lawrence gap,Oinstens and a little further to Bridgetown. For a 3 star hotel we had the most amazing time and will definitely return

"Disappointed visitor"

6.0

Location ideal beach front and pool excellent location and views. Entertainment most nights was really good. Room was clean but in need of a refurb, the bed was huge but was like being on a water bed it was so soft. Our room overlooked the pool so noise from pool side at night but not too much of a worry. The Bar at the back of the hotel created more noise. Service was ok some staff seemed to not want to be there. Tennis court that was listed as an amenity if it was the one across the road don't bother I have one at a local park in a better condition. The basket ball court was unuseable. The Gym was not very well sign posted found it walking around the hotel but was unsure if it was in use, the gardens that was listed in the amenities seemed to be closed down. The free water sports was not great, I only saw a few kayaks Food was good but could do with more choice, over a week the choice at lunch time of a burger, hot dog or vegie burger at the BBQ was a bit unimaginative. More use could have been made of the BBQ area. Over all the food was good just a limited menu at the buffet. No hot water to shower for first few days but this was fixed relatively quickly, the fridge was freezing up on the outside that was in the room and the floor seems to be permanently moist. The shower had very little power the spray was so small had to dance around to get wet and wash hair. I would say this is only just a 3 star review. Saw so many other people with complaints about wrong room allocation and services not in place.

"Tired old spot"

4.0

Stayed here due our regular spot being under renovation. Understood up front it was rated 3 stars. Be aware that the pics on the website are very old. This property is tired and scheduled for reno. Food was decent. Most staff were friendly. Mixed drinks at bar were terrible. Not sure what they use.for mixers. If you want a coffee maker in your room bring your own pods (not Kcups) We received a coffee maker when requested but were told we had to source our own pods. Beach is tiny due to storm erosion over the past few years. Maxwell Beach access is just a short walk north. Nice cats. Price was actually higher than last year at Turtle Beach and not near as good. Fun times but won't return there.

"Really bad hotel!"

2.0

This hotel is definitely not 3 stars! The hotel is very dated. Reception was clean. Went up to our room to find a damp, musty smelling room. Sheets & bedding seemed clean, but the valance sheet was stained & grubby. Old fashioned bedroom furniture with an under the counter fridge right next to the bed in an alcove. Unlit shelf above fridge contained kettle & a few drinking sachets. Only coffee sachets contained creamer & sugar. When we asked for just coffee, they said they would bring some up. We never saw those all week! The fridge had what looked like mould spots on its front (see pics). The bathroom had clean soft towels every day. But the shower head had limescale on it. Basin tap was dirty & crusty too. Toilet was in the most awkward place, directly in the corner, with toilet paper too far back to reach! If we were larger people, we wouldn't have been able to use the toilet!(Again, see pics!). Entertainment was on nightly until midnight & far too loud (our room was 5 floors up & looking over the pool). Even with the doors shut, we had to turn the tv up really loud so we could hear it! Could hear noise & feel vibrations when we went to bed. The eating area was horrible. Food was OK-ish. We planned on using the upstairs restaurant for a birthday meal for myself but had a look at the room & changed our minds! Some other guest told us we had to ask for ice cream. So we asked & got looked at like it was a chore! It took her 10 minutes to bring us a small dish of ice cream. Asked again the next evening & got the same response from another member of staff! Same waiting time again. On our last night there, we asked again for ice cream & got told they were quite busy & had to wait! We waited 15 minutes & gave up. Although it's a lovely location, the sea was far too rough for me, so we travelled to another beach up the coast for a beach day. The sun beds around the pool were always taken early hours by towels & the beach sunbeds had no cushions on them so uncomfortable on your back. Any information we needed was on a board in reception. Nothing at all in the rooms. We haven't had a very nice experience at this hotel. I know it's supposed to be 3 stars but in my books it would be lucky to get 1!

Firstly, the food was delicious, absolutely no complaints. However, if you are looking for an absolutely luxurious experience this may not be best suited hotel. The staff was relatively helpful.

"Great value"

8.0

Nice basic hotel, clean and friendly. Definitely needs some new bathrooms etc but serviceable. Food was great, lots of choices and tasty. Free flowing bar from 10.30 am. The highlight of the hotel is the private beach area. Just stunning. Location is perfect, sat between Oistins and st Lawrence gap, both are walking distance (20 mins). Local buses pass all day and are easy to hail.
