Grand Hotel Tremezzo

I had a very bad experience because my sunglasses were stolen in plain sight right inside the hotel. When I asked the hotel for help, they said that’s just how it is there and the police won’t care about my sunglasses. The manager told me that. They lied about transportation saying it was complimentary and then charged me 200 Euros. The pool is separated by a dangerous street, and recently someone was hit by a car just trying to get to the pool. There’s just a lot of factors that make this hotel a place that used to be nice but due to poor management has gone to waste. If you value your belongings, don’t want them stolen and you don’t want to get hit by a car on your way to the pool, you should look elsewhere.

Again, again, and again! I never tire of this hotel. We weren't planning on staying here for the third time, but seeing a wedding nearby, (Monza Royal Villa) we asked for availability and managed to get a room! (Lake view) As always, everything was magnificent. Fantastic breakfast, and then the Terrace Bar...a dream...unfortunately, we weren't able to have dinner, next time!

GHT is iconic - from the lake pool to the classic facade, it’s one of THE hotels to stay at in Lake Como, but you are certainly paying for it. We were excited to stay here (and booked through a travel agent for additional perks / personalization), however beyond the front desk and concierge, service felt a bit impersonal. We stayed at several luxury properties this trip with GHT being considered the most luxurious, yet felt the service was colder and less personal than those properties (esp as we booked with their preferred travel agency). As an example, we had to repeatedly remind the concierge our name and room number (other properties they were proactively greeting you by name). In addition, the concierge mis-booked our on-property restaurant for the next day (he should have confirmed teh day). The breakfast buffet was incredible (captured in other reviews), but service was quite cold. Another example - we asked for a takeaway box from their bar, and they said they do not give takeaway boxes - this was surprising - in my experience staying at luxury properties - the answer is always yes (they could have sourced from any of their other 5 restaurants). Furthermore, when we asked for a cup of milk for our child, they charged us, which felt ridiculous given how much we were paying for the room (and the fact that other properties, like PH Milan, were gladly giving us free milk for the toddler). That being said, it’s hard to deny they have incredible amenities - the beach + restaurant, the pizza + pool, the insane view of the lake (the view from our junior suite balcony was a dream) - my sense is if you’re looking for an amenities rich, social hotel in Como - this is it. I’d also add that on our last day, more of the staff knew our names (shoutout to Marco from front desk who was super). However, next time (especially if we are traveling with children), we’ll probably try Passalacqua or the Mandarin Oriental.

This is a stunning grand hotel, with amazing views, friendly staff, and very comfortable beds. I loved the various areas of the hotel to enjoy either a cocktail or a drink. There are two things that prevented our stay from being 5 star. The first is the use of cologne perfume throughout the hotel. I understand that Italy has a culture of heavy personal fragrances, but the entire hotel had a strong scent (I believe a signature perfume created just for the hotel), that permeated everything. My spouse and I both work in super high level restaurants in which the staff is forbidden to wear personal fragrance in an effort to ensure that the food & wine experience is experienced as intended. We went to the lakeside restaurant to grab a bite, and I ordered a bottle of water, and the water glass that was brought by the server wreaked of the cologne that the server was wearing. I had to request another glass. Also, the small face towels in the bathroom were also spritzed with cologne, so when I washed my face at night and tried to dry off with the towel, I was confronted with a face full of perfume. The other issue was the food quality. I would describe it as barely edible. Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who has experienced the highest level of Michelin dining for an entire career so I really have high standards for cuisine, but still. Nothing tasted fresh or of high quality. The breakfast had a beautiful presentation, but again the product was generally subpar. Just to be clear on my priorities, while I enjoy the luxe life, I will always take a monastic hotel with excellent food over a posh hotel with average or below average food. I imagine there are tremendous logistical challenges that this area faces (most likely no nearby farmer's market that the Chef's can visit every morning), but I am always bummed when traveling not to be able to get a decent meal.

Timeless Elegance on Lake Como My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo this week, and it was everything we hoped for and more. The hotel is the perfect blend of sophistication and warmth – combining five-star quality with genuinely friendly, attentive service. The design of the hotel is stunning, with a traditional elegance that perfectly complements the beauty of Lake Como. Every space feels thoughtfully curated and in harmony with its surroundings. A true highlight of our stay was the T Spa. The staff were incredibly helpful and professional, creating a calm and luxurious experience from start to finish. We enjoyed a couple’s massage in a private room, and it was nothing short of exceptional. Grand Hotel Tremezzo is a place where every detail is taken care of with grace and care. We left feeling completely relaxed and already looking forward to returning. An unforgettable experience

Small room a little tired. Location and view great. Service good everywhere at the hotel. Dining not what we had hoped - expensive and ok but not value at the price point. Breakfast v good. Dinner less so. Lunch at the bar area very good but not amazing food.

It trades on its historic reputation and has a price point at the insane end but doesn’t have facilities or dining options to match the price tag.

The facility and staff where fantastic. Everyone greeted you by name and any request was satisfied

The entire time we were there the road was under construction and it was extremely loud preventing us from enjoying the balcony to the lake or many of the beautiful outdoor spaces of the property. Had we known this was the case we would not have stayed at the property. The manager did cover the cost of our 3 hr boat tour which was very nice, but it was not the experience we hoped for at the hotel
