Tru By Hilton Columbia Greystone

Very disappointed with my experience at Tru by Hilton Columbia Greystone. I booked a room using a Friends & Family rate and planned to use my employer’s business card at check-in. The hotel ran the original card on file without my knowledge because they claimed occupancy was high, and when it declined, my reservation was canceled shortly after. I missed a call around 8 PM because it showed as “Potential Spam,” but I immediately called back after receiving the cancellation email. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue, the front desk was rude and told me I would have to pay full price to get the room back. When I expressed that I planned to leave reviews and file complaints about the experience through Google, social media, and TripAdvisor, I was accused of “threatening” the employee, which was completely untrue. I was simply stating my intent to share feedback as a dissatisfied customer. The employee also refused to provide her name and claimed she could not legally give it to me. The lack of professionalism, customer service, and willingness to resolve a simple payment issue was disappointing and not what I expect from a Hilton property.

The property is very nice; well-appointed rooms and comfortable beds. Very well-equipped and easy access to lots of things.

The rate. It seems that the going rate is $115 but because it was graduation weekend the price was four times that.

I loved that the facility was very clean and updated. I also loved the complimentary breakfast that was offered.

I was not too pleased with the staff. They were for the lack of a better word, very nonchalant and not very helpful. I found that they were quite appeasing to certain groups of people over others. Take that how you will, but I was observing the behavior and felt very awkward about the subtle mistreatment or standoffish attitude in comparison to the treatment of others.
