Hotel Royal Tahitien

The staff is extremely helpful/ friendly and accommodations (pool was in repair) are clean. Bus stop is close by to get in and out of town cheap. Food trucks a block away are excellent to eat local cuisine. If you are not wanting to venture out, the restaurant onsite has a great breakfast buffet of fresh fruits and bread, drinks and dinner at night are also a fine option. The beach and shoreline are steps away from a beautiful walk or view.

We booked a day before arrival as we were transiting. We booked specifically for the pool after a hot couple of weeks sailing. After booking I received an email the pool was closed but I could cancel within 7 days, I received this hours before our checkin. By the time we were aware of this there was nothing left in Papeete we could book. We arrived to a construction zone, the room next to ours was having the tile hammered up and the pool area was closeby and noisy. There was no where to sit and relax besides the chairs near the front desk. The beach is not a welcoming beach but a narrow slip leading to the water, there was a lot of garbage on the beach. I understand this is more of a locals beach. The front desk receptionist was awesome. She really did try to make things work for us including giving us an early check in, which I believe is how we ended up with a room being renovated. We were exhausted and needed a quiet place to land to sleep and cool off, she truly did try her best for us. Having said all of the above I think once the work is done and quiet is once again offered this would be a wonderful place to be. We simply landed with a calamity of errors.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. Only downside was their pool was under construction. Because of that they offered us complimentary breakfast for our stay. Loved being able to dine outside next to the ocean with the most amazing sunsets!

Great hotel, nice and quite, about 3km out of town. Most guests had a hire car that were staying there. We also had a hire car which made getting in and around Tahiti easy and we could do at our own pace. Rooms were very large - like an apartment.

Lovely place, just a shame the pool was closed. Also although tea was on the drinks menu for ALL meals, they only let you have it in the morning! WHY? Plus no skim milk at all. Beautiful sunsets. Then on Saturday when we'd reserved a table for dinner, a woman who spoke no English was not going to let us into the restaurant!! So we had to insist to speak to the manager, when we got inside it was half empty till a lot later!

Nice quiet location, rooms face garden area not other buildings, nice beach and restaurant is right on the beach. Older building and small tv but very comfy and good value.

This hotel has a great restaurant, French speaking is not necessary but very helpful

Nice clean room, with all the amenities that we needed . Close to restaurants and shopping locations. 20 yards from the beach..

Poorly advertised as close to the airport with a shuttle. Hotel is in a really, really run down neighborhood full of graffiti with kids roaming the streets at 1:30 in the morning and plenty of roosters to keep you awake. Built in 1967 and hasn't changed much. Not ever coming back, probably a no star hotel.

Worked out perfectly. Great breakfast. Great grounds.
