Hotel Royal Tahitien

I read reviews saying the property was outdated, but we found the decor quite pleasing. The property is beautiful and staff are kind. We enjoyed the pool, but the steep incline in the pool can be dangerous. It is slippery.

Reception staff ( welcoming) brisk and not friendly. Other days adequate but not very happy to see us. Same in restaurant. Limited Breakfast food and birds flew into our food at table. Ick.

Time for a revamp. Property has the 60’s/70’s feel to it. We chose to stay here to see the black sand beach and it was a nice sight to see. Staff very friendly and restaurant was great as well with free live entertainment! I can’t get over the spaghetti bolognese! Soooo good and we've even been to Italy!

Stayed on a 2 day stopover in Tahiti. Chose this one as it seemed a decent budget option and, due to flight times Vs ferry schedule, it made sense to stay on Tahiti as we couldn't spend 2 nights on another island. In terms of quality, the hotel was clean but very dated. The staff were helpful (we checked in late and they kept reception open, booked us taxis). We had an issue with our room key not working, but this was sorted immediately. The hotel is just outside Papeete and it took us half an hour to walk from the hotel to the waterfront, although there's not much on the way except garages as it's a main road. The restaurant and bar on-site are fantastic! No more pricey than Papeete, lovely people, live music on the weekend, wide menu and, importantly, great food!

Was hoping to get early check in since I was just staying for half a night till my midnight flight. Staff wanted to charge me an additional nights stay which was not worth it for the few hours. Ended up sitting in the restaurat that was not yet open so I brought in some snacks to hold me over till they open. I promptly got told I can't bring outside food into the restaurant. Terrible experience. would not reccommend.

It is a bit dated but it was in a great location for me and the staff were friendly.
