Loved the location, inside old town of Kyoto. The traditional styled house with futons on the floor and a wooden bath tub.

"Traditional Gion meets modern comfort"

It was a quiet area of Gion with everything you need around the corner. We loved the onsen traditional bath. It was great to have a seating area with a view of a small garden. Can’t beat the location, so close to the famous canal walk.

The mattresses were quite thin for sleeping on the ground. We had to layer them up to make it comfortable.

The location is absolutely perfect. In the centre of Gion, it allows you to enjoy the historic area of Kyoto with ease. Close to train stations and restaurants, the location couldn't be more suitable to an enjoyable stay in the Gion district. We loved the historic feel and style of the property - authentic Japan!

I'm not that tall, but I had to stoop each time through several doors inside the unit we stayed in. So if you've been blessed with height, you might want to reconsider this space as it could feel quite tight.

"Perfect location to feel you are in the Japan of years ago."

Wonderful stay, felt like being in an older Japanese home. My kids loved it! Check in was painless. Location was just amazing — close to the trendy parts of Gion but felt quiet and secluded. And the tubs!! I will dream about those tubs for months.

It was not any issue for us, but those with mobility issues should avoid as the stairs are steep and the tubs are deep. It was nice that they provided dishes though washing them was a little tricky as the downstairs sink was small. We didn’t mind the quirkiness, we found it part of the fun.

The location is fabulous, in the heart of Gion. The accommodation is traditional and the hosts are lovely, very welcoming. Very spacious and lovely bathrooms with two tubs!

You can’t open the windows due to mosquitoes. It wasn’t a major issue as there is air conditioning.
