Sharon Hotel Herzliya

Ok so long review short: Great location on the beach, ok hotel in terms of amenities and overall look / service - and killer views of the ocean... All capped off with perhaps the absolute worst room I've stated in the last 20 years. Just cheap and completely run down. Aged dirty worn carpet, a mini bar fridge next to the mini bar (that was a shelled out cabinet with the words "mini bar" on it) that would not open, horrible bed mattress with accompanying cheap sheets, a deadbolt on the door that looked like someone carved around it with a fork to make it fit ... I could go on ... The saving grace: a stunning view of the ocean from the balcony! That said, why are these properties so lazy and complacent? I'm not saying do a multi million dollar renovation and turn it into park avenue, but seriously these rooms are straight out of a zombie apocalypse movie. If you don't care about your room, stay here. Great central herzylia location with easy access to the beach. If you do care, spend the extra $75 or so a night and go to the Daniel adjacent ... Or even the accadia 2 down close to the marina. So much potential for this place... But apparently, like the chicken or the egg analogy, management cannot afford basic standard upkeep to the rooms - or is busy enough on a limited beach space to not care to do better with what they have. Sharon is $30 motel room quality with a million dollar view :-)

Excellent reception staff, cant fault the hotel,spacious room & clean. Decent breakfast,pool area spacious & cozy. Dated hotel but cant fault the overall cleanliness.

The stay was OK but we have a few problems: 1. The coffee at the breakfast had some chemicals and it wasn't drinkable. 2. The vent in the bathroom didn't work. 3. The bathtub is slippery but protection had to be requested instead of being there from the start.

The Staff were not very obliging at all! I was there attending a funeral and there was no compassion shown for my situation. All they were interested in was money!

On the good side: Rooms are comfortable and clean,magnificent view, excellent massage. On the less good side: Service is poor,- no newspaper available until afternoon, atmosphere cold and unwelcoming, gift shop closed most of the day. Not as pleasant as I remembered it from years ago.

Friendly staff. Great breakfast in the morning. Nice rooms.

Our overnight stay was ruined by a malfunctioning motion sensor in the room, which turned off all electricity - including air conditioning as well as lights - when it wasn't sensing movement. Problem is we don't move in our sleep, so the AC went off and the room became very warm quickly. Tried ton read but the lights kept truning off. The management was unable to fix the problem and offered to move us to another room but by then it was very late as so we just suffered and left early the next day. Otherwise the location and amenities were fine but this problem

There was a cocroach in the cupboard one evening!!!! The bathroom has a mouldy smell _needs update.On our last day we could'nt use the pool after 9.30There were preparations for an event!We were NOT informed!

The rooms are severely run down: it's like everything out of the 1980's. The washroom was dilapidated - with mildew stains around the edges of everything. On the plus side: nice large balcony overlooking the ocean, the rooms (and the washroom) were much larger than I've experienced in other Israeli hotels (though very sparsely furnished!). Excellent service from the front desk and great Israeli breakfast in the morning
