Susan and I made a last minute decision to visit Manger Square in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve. We decided to stay at the American Colony and are beyond glad we did. We had to make several trip changes and the staff took it all in stride and accommodated us with little or no issues. We arrived at the hotel around 9pm on Christmas Eve, did a quick check in and found ourselves in Bethlehem on Manger Square at 11pm on Christmas Eve. The hotel set us up with Mahmoud the taxi driver from Ben Gurion to hotel to Bethlehem back to the hotel early Christmas morning. The logistics they pulled off to make this work for us (and a little luck and magic) made it happen. Never mind the spectacular reviews of the hotel in and of itself. It’s true and lives up to the reputation and is the great place it’s claimed to be. The STAFF of the American Colony are some of the best we’ve visited with around the world. Of note Mouayad Khader, the Front Office Assistant Manager, Yousef from the Concierge and Diana from the front desk made the stay easy and even with our changes things went smoothly. We regret we didn’t get the bellman’s name during our stay but he was great as well. Especially finding us a taxi on Boxing Day. The restaurants and staff and the housekeepers we crossed paths with were all friendly, professional and seemed like they truly enjoyed working at the American Colony. If you are wanting to visit Jerusalem and see the sights this is THE place to stay. If you want to go a little deeper into visiting the West Bank, ask them to set you up with Mahmoud’s taxi and have him arrange to have his associate Mohammed show you around Manger Square and the Nativity Church. C’est un très bel endroit qui devait être un excellent hôtel à l’époque, mais pas du tout OK en terme de rapport prix et qualité des services ou des chambres. À 400 € la nuit on peut trouver beaucoup mieux.

Le service en chambre a été très lent, qu’il propose pour le nouvel an est à 200 € dans un restaurant qui est vraiment pas top, sans oublier le petit-déjeuner qui était extrêmement décevant.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, very convenient and close to everything we needed. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and the facilities were well maintained and thoughtfully designed. The gardens are beautiful, staff were professional and kind. Overall, a great experience, and we would happily stay here again.
