Night porter guy was a little bit grumpy Basic hotel but we booked for the location and price. There were some ants in room but generally clean

Lovely room . Shower a bit tricky to use but adequate once on. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. Staff friendly and helpful

Shower a bit tricky to use

Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr zentral, die Sehenswürdigkeiten und die Parks sind fußläufig erreichbar. Der South Inch Car Park ist in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Das Zimmer war grundsätzlich sauber und wir hatten ein ruhiges Zimmer, die Fenster gingen auf einen Privatparkplatz. Was es zum englischen Frühstück gab, war alles gut und frisch.

Das Hotel ist sehr alt, und so ist leider auch die Innenausstattung. Die Türen waren aus dem vorigen Jahrtausend und noch mit Schlüsseln zu sperren. Auch die Teppiche der Gänge waren sehr alt und abgenuddelt. Leider war das Hotel eingerüstet, da die Fassade erneuert wird. Es gab nur englisches Frühstück, wir hätten uns auch ein wenig Wurst oder Käse gewünscht.

No onsite parking but there was a pay lot nearby.

The Salutation, or “Sally”, is, as per its website, the oldest hotel in Scotland. It was initially one giant residence before being converted into its present state in 1699, though renovations since the 1990’s have brought it into the here and now. Staying in it is, in the nicest possible way, very much like stepping back in time: it has a charming centuries old decor; corridors are narrow; floorboards squeak and breakfast is in an enormous chandelier lined room which does not look like it has ever been altered. The hotel is perfectly situated in its proximity to the train station and Perth high-street, where various eateries and shops can be found. Also close by are a vast array of wonderful cultural landmarks such as the Perth Museum (home of the Stone of Destiny); Perth Gallery and two centuries old churches. Nearby across the River Tay are some public gardens for walking and, further up, a parklands golf course. Its hospitality options were also very impressive, with large halls for weddings and dances and smaller suites for whatever else. The staff were excellent. Service at mealtimes is really efficient and the menu even afforded me the opportunity to sample haggis for the first time. Drinks options range from standard pints of Pepsi or lager to banana flavored rum. The wi-fi throughout the hotel is free and lightning fast.

It should be noted that my room was on the first floor and that rooms seemed to improve the higher you went, but mine was quite cramped; the chair worn and uncomfortable and the room was often very hot with just a desk fan to help the situation. The water pressure in the shower was just the right side of being acceptable.
