SpringHill Suites Anchorage Midtown

The hotel is rundown and in serious need of updating. I make this comment because the carpet in the hallway and room was stained and apparently can’t be cleaned. Why else would the management allow the hotel be in this shape? Don’t know who handles the laundry service, but they don’t care enough to replace thread bare towels. Not a good impression.

Our stay was excellent. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly.

My daughter and grandson along with myself stayed here three nights and not once got service. No cleaning or anything the trash was overflowing and no towels all dirty. My daughter called downstairs to the front desk only to be told that no guarantees that they will get to our room. I went downstairs in person and had to beg just to get towels. Then went to breakfast just to see someone nodding off in front of my grandson. I’m a behavioral health professional but don’t want my grandson seeing this crap. By the way 1300 dollars for three nights this is not New York or Hawaii it’s the ghetto in Anchorage Alaska.

I went to this hotel on my Teen Tour with NJY camps . The staff went above and beyond to help us out and accommodate us. I am very thankful for all the help and accommodations . The staff’s re so nice and room service is excellent.

Original room was smokey and the couch was gross. Moved to a different room and the couch was disgusting again. Shower curtain liner was gross. Carpet in halls, lobby, and eating area were filthy. Two stars are generous but the young man working the desk was nice and helpful.

We used this hotel as a base to explore Alaska and took several overnights away from Anchorage. Thus stayed in three rooms at different times. The good: staff we met were all very pleasant and nice. Hotel was kind enough to store our excess luggage when we left for an overnight excursion. The breakfast was pretty good for a SpringHill Suites. Close to shopping- Wal-mart, REI, and others. The bad: the rooms are tired; “recent renovations” is clearly a description from at least five years ago; another renovation is needed. Guest room bureau drawers won’t stay closed. Not enough light even in the rooms where all the lights work. Living area overhead light fixture doesn’t work. No hooks in bathroom. Carpets throughout the hotel are filthy and stained. Tub in one room was rust stained. Baseboard and wallpaper peeling off the walls. A/C in one ground floor room did not work, and it does get hot in Anchorage. Would you leave a ground floor hotel room window open all night? Laminate top of night table is bubbling…I could go on. This hotel has had a hard life. Physically, this is one of the worst Marriott affiliates I’ve stayed at. It’s a pity because the staff is trying very hard.

Nice place. Everything was clean and staff were friendly. Decent restaurants within walking distance. Would stay there again.
