Extended Stay America Suites - Phoenix - Peoria

The facilities were nice. The room was nice and clean. The staff was nice. This was our first time trying an Extended Stay America. It turned out to be more of an adventure than we wanted. Non working appliances were a killer. Good chance we won't try another one.

We requested a room with a walk in shower. I called a couple days before our arrival to confirm we would get one. I called again the day we were to arrive to confirm this. Was promised this each time I called. We arrive and get a room with a tub. Check in clerk said they only have 2 rooms with walk in showers and they are booked on long term rentals. She said we shouldn't have been promised a walk in shower. The refrigerator in our room wasn't working. Fridge part was warm. Freezer was cool like a fridge. Wouldn't keep anything frozen. They replaced the refrigerator with a nice one. Tried the microwave. Sparks shot inside of it and a bad stink came out. The cathode or something was fried. Possibly by someone putting metal in the microwave. The replacement microwave did the same thing when it was tested by the clerk replacing it. A third microwave worked but the turntable didn't rotate. We were really impressed by the worn out appliances. The review wants to rate this as a 7. I think that might be a bit too high.

It was an okay stay for what we were there for (baseball tournament). The first staff member I spoke with was kinda rude when I asked to check in early, if possible. The next person I spoke with a few hours later, was very friendly (I think it was the manager) and she helped with trying to get a room ready faster. I guess they only had one housekeeper on staff for the entire property. I would stay again, if it's a shorter stay, but the room did have a very odd odor. I also didnt realize it was one of those places that people live at short term, which was why I said it seemed kinda sketchy.. the people, not the property.

Free parking, clean, ironing board/iron

Loud refrigerator (lots of freezer frost buildup) with doors badly rehinged to keep them from hitting into the entry door, but also making them awkward for right handed persons, very thin top blanket, no hot breakfast, no room service
