"Great location- horrible check in"

Location

We arrived at 3pm for check in and the room was not ready. We were told that there are 5 guests ahead of us and they do not know how long it would be before we can check in. After driving for over 7 hrs, this was extremely frustrating and they did not offer to offer any type of compensation. We went for lunch and after waiting for 2 hrs, we called the hotel and were told that the room is still not ready. Finally, around 6pm we were able to check in. No compensation was offered until I specifically asked for it and they were willing to cover cost of one night parking.

"Disappointing."

Centrally located, just a short walk from the Old Town Alexandria Amtrak and Metro station.

Even though I requested a higher floor, my room was assigned on the 2nd floor with a direct view of a large dumpster in the inner courtyard. Very disappointing. The king room was extremely tight, with no closet space. Once I rolled the two suitcases into the room, there was barely any space left to move around. The toilet bowl contained dark brown speck upon arrival, which raised concerns about the overall cleanliness of the room.
