La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Austin Southwest

The hotel is a shambles. It had been under renovation for at least two years, but never was it in as bad a condition as this weekend. The lobby was destroyed, and so "guest services," such as they were, we conducted in a small foyer off the one (1)!) working elevator. The machine that. managed the room keys was on the fritz, so it was necessary for hotel staff to accompany anyone back to his or her room in order to open the door. No breakfasts were available. In spite of all this, I was severely overcharged, on the theory that "that's what the market would bear for similar properties." That may be true of other properties, but those other properties would not be in the chaotic condition this one was. The sole bright spot? The good-natured professionalism of the hotel stall.

Way more construction than the breakfast area. Pant smell horrible. Had to have someone let you in the room if you left no door keys. No hot water.

Convenient location

Older Property was under renovation after 10:30 pm men were still there working inside. Room was patchy, looks like it wasn’t completed renovated. Bathtub was leaky, rusty and disgusting. We did not use it! We’re originally booked for two nights but cancelled our 2nd night there. I called down to the front desk since I went downstairs to the front desk and waited for 10 mins and no one came to the front to acknowledge me. I was not offered an apology, or compensation for my disappointment or inconvenience with the property. Had a much better experience elsewhere.

The hotel was very clean and housekeeping kept up with their duties.

This location was under construction, there was no internet access, no continental breakfast...basically nothing which was VERY HIGH for the price I paid.

When we tried to check in at 2:45, she said your room is not ready yet. Then we said do you have a bathroom available? She said no. Then called someone and magically got a room available. She didn't even tell us what room we were in. Had to look at our key holder. Didn't tell us where anything was. The ice machine on our floor was completely in shambles. I went up to every floor and nothing.

I could hear the room next door conversations even with my tv on. So I know they could hear mine. Also the refrigerator leaked an got the carpet all wet by morning. Only stayed one night

Large room

The entrance area was under construction. The toilet handle got stuck. Also the TV remote was difficult to maneuver.

Middle of a construction. Gym closed and knead not informed. Extremely bad smell

Don’t stay here until they finish renovations! Dust, dirt, paint fumes, and dirty mattresses lining the hallways. We were called before check in and told we would lose our room if we didn’t pay over the phone, probably because anyone who saw the property would cancel their reservation. Breakfast service was normal, but ruined by paint chunks and dust in the half of a dining room not under construction. Our door handle was apparently new and “sticky” and had to be violently shoved open each time. Key cards were constantly deactivated. Sound proofing is genuinely terrible, there’s a two inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor below. No housekeeping services unless you request it the night before by 9pm. There was also a sign stating hot breakfast would be unavailable in the coming weeks due to construction. Just don’t stay here, it’s not worth it.

Convenient location

This property is under serious renovation, which we were never alerted to before arriving. Despite stating on booking.com that I would pay upon arrival, I was called and told I would lose my room reservation if I did not pay over the phone before check in time. I believe this was done to prevent guests from seeing the property in disarray and cancelling their booking. Some issues we encountered include dust, paint fumes, and old mattresses lining the hallways. Housekeeping is only available by request. Our door handle had been recently replaced and was nearly impossible to open (required the full force of a grown man to get open each time). Key cards stopped working 3 times during our stay. Genuinely terrible sound proofing, which makes sense because the newly painted doors leave an inch gap to the floor. Breakfast service was abysmal, complete with chunks of paint and dust all over the “dining room” floor.
