Porto Tile House

We like the proximity to the river and Ribeira district in Porto

A lot of steps and no elevator to the 4th floor. We are in our sixties and carrying 3 pieces of luggage up those stairs was tough, even with both of us being very fit. We could not recommend this place to seniors, families or anyone who is not fit

The property is in a fairly good location for sightseeing in Porto.

My room was on the fourth floor, up a very wonky staircase. The only view was a wall a couple of yards away. There was no headboard so no chance of sitting up in bed. The sockets were few and far between and not in good places for charging phones etc. The bathroom is tiny. Decent powerful shower but only a curtain to separate it from the rest of the bathroom. The bathroom door goes all the way down to the floor so having the bath mat ready for when you get out of the shower is an impossibility. There is nowhere to hang anything, even a towel, apart from a couple of hooks and a hanger. There is nowhere to hang a towel so you can easily grab it when you get out of the shower. To cap it all, I made a cup of coffee on the second morning, and then realised there wasn't even a spoon to stir it with. I can't recommend this place.

The location was absolutely perfect. Stones throw from all the action. The management was very responsive to any questions.

I felt a little misled when booking this apartment. I was under the impression when booking this from the photos it was a river view apartment however we had a back alley with no view and very noisy at times. The apartment was a little too small for a couple. I wanted to cancel the room as soon as I realised when I got confirmation it was a small room overlooking an alley, however there was a 50% cancellation fee which was too much. It would have cost me around £180 to cancel. I feel this happens a lot and people get caught out so just be cautious when booking. I have stayed in Porto before and have paid less for a lot more and this was the same time of year. More ideal for a solo traveler if booking the Armenia Room. Just my honest view.

Location. Location. Location. Porto Tile house is a short walk from Ribeira and stop for the hop on hop off buses. I literally walked across the street to the Douro River. I wanted to be close but not in the middle of the tourist bustle. Lots of food and shops very close. Even though I didn’t use the kitchen features I appreciated the option to cook in my room.

I didn’t like that my windows opened onto another building a few meters away. Someone has to have the rooms on the back. Not a showstopper for me.

What a beautiful place! We absolutely loved our room here and the view from our balcony was spectacular! The house has so much charm and character and was clean and close to everything.
