Semiahmoo Resort Golf & Spa, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

The location of the hotel is amazing but the hotel itself is worn out. The pool is small and was closed one of the days we were there. The restaurant on site was ok. The staff was excellent! This place could be amazing if given some attention. We ended up leaving a day early.

Went with my son to Semiahmoo this past Friday evening, booked last minute as a getaway; as I work FT, and have bone marrow failure- don’t get to do very much anymore, particularly short getaways that are extremely expensive. Checked in around 6pm, got food and went swimming (both v v long stories involving the two family reunions present at resort), went back to room to shower around 9:30pm only to have son find that both the bathtub and shower did not run water. They functionally didn’t work- and a strange, cheap looking hand-held shower was tacked to side wall, ran a small amount of water. My son tried to shower but kept complaining that it ran only cold- I told him it was time for bed, and we’d figure it out in the morning. Morning came- and turns out, that stream of water coming out of tacked on handheld showerhead was cold as freshly melted snow from mountain -& we truly didn’t have any hot, or even warm water. No ability to bathe at all in our room whatsoever, not by shower or bath- nothing. When I stated this upon checkout was told it was actually MY fault for not calling maintenance. When following up with management- was thanked for my “feedback”. (Included video to management showing that bath and shower heads were loosely attached, non functioning, etc. Cannot seem to upload to this site?) Am shocked that Semiahmoo can charge as much as they do; upon further scrutiny I can see that my room WAS discounted, but only to the very “cheap” rate of a little less than $300. So I guess for $300 we cannot expect working plumbing at Semiahmoo. Last time I stayed there floating confoms were in the pool. Oh well. New management has been deeply disappointing.

The resort was right on the beach and had a very welcoming lobby and common area. My family enjoyed using the board games and sitting out on the beach in beach chairs provided by the resort.

The property could use a good once over for some maintenance repairs doesn’t need a whole lot but things like rotten wood and areas and discoloration of tiles make it look worn and dirty. My biggest complaint was at the restaurant the waitress made it sound like she forgot something for us so she was going to comp a dessert but then when I got the bill and the dessert was on there and it was awkward and confrontational when I had to ask about it in front of my family and friends. The last day we were at the property my kids and I went to go use the pool and it was not open and they are very disappointed.

This is not a good value. The property is worn and prices at the resort are high as, in general, they have a captive audience as there’s very little near by.

Dining is very limited. Staff seemed untrained in customer service. Property seems run down compared to past visits.
