Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas

I cannot fault this property. It’s is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are all so friendly. The breakfast is exquisite. We stayed here for my friends birthday and I asked the property in my special requests if they could leave a note or some goodies for her and they went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations with this. We were able to check in when we arrived in port Douglas which was an hour before usual check in time. Would definitely come back here!

Despite how big the resort is you still feel like you’re in your own little world

Small lagoon pool is great for very small children mine are aged 6 and 8 so I would suggest try and get the bigger lagoon pool room (if you have confident swimmers) however the resort offers some wonderful pool options in the main area

Not enough lighting outside walking to car park, no allocated parking to rooms

Honestly, this is hands down the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Australia. The hospitality here is on another level — they truly know how to pamper you and make you feel like royalty! From the moment you arrive, you don’t have to carry your bags even for a second; they take care of everything for you. The property is big, so if you need to go from your room to the reception or anywhere else, they have those cute little shuttle carts/buggies to take you around comfortably , no walking long distances with luggage at all. Even when you are checking out and ready to leave, just call them, and they come straight away to collect your bags and help you. Every single thing was top‑notch, perfect service, and such a lovely experience. I highly, highly recommend Sheraton Grand ,you will not regret it!

While the rooms and service were excellent, there is one major thing I did not like at all and found very unprofessional. As a paying guest staying at the resort, I believe we should be priority number one , but that was not the case here. I found that their restaurants get fully booked very quickly, and they do not reserve enough space or priority for their own hotel guests. You end up finding out there is no table available, and you are forced to drive far away or go look for food at other hotels or places outside. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing for me because I travelled here specifically to celebrate my birthday. I expected to be able to have my dinner and celebration right there where I was staying, but because there was no reservation space kept for guests, I had to go out and book a completely different place elsewhere just to have my birthday dinner. It makes no sense to me ,at the very least, they should keep some tables available or give priority to people actually staying at the resort. It really ruined part of the experience for me. Everything else was top‑notch, but this part needs to change urgently.

Breakfast was good the staff cleaned up the mess quite quickly and been helpful

It was my anniversary and nobody at the reception said happy birthday even when I mentioned it and showed my id. It was quite disappointing
