"Great cosy cottage"

9.0

Really cosy, comfy beds. The log burner was an added treat and needed on the nights we were there just to make it extra cosy. The location for seeing this area was ideal not far to drive to Buxton or Bakewell and lots of walks just off the doorstep. The pub next door is also worth more than one visit as the food and hospitality are brilliant. Loved the fact there was a bath with an overhead shower and that there was an extra sink in the downstairs bedroom

Really loved the cottage and nothing to dislike, would just say if you have small children or someone not great on their feet then the steps to two of the bedrooms are quite steep but that is really just a quirky part of this property and just something to bear in mind. There is a few local shops in the next village but we'd forgotten to bring some milk and arrived in the evening so had to head out first thing for some the following morning so a small carton in the fridge would have been really appreciated

"Superb"

The location and views were fabulous. It was a lovely base for us to stay and enjoy the fire after a long walk around Bakewell. The pub next door had a good range of fabulous food.

"Ok for two nights but would find it uncomfortable for longer periods"

5.0

location was very nice, adjoining pub was hosted by very friendly owners

all bathroom soaps, shampoo etc were open and used - some bottles completely empty. Staircase to first floor is very steep and narrow. Extreme care required to avoid accident Living / dining space was nice but you have to re arrange the furniture to fit a dining table

"Great location for local walks."

8.0

Proximity to local walks and the surrounding countryside is fantastic. The first day we were dropped off at the head of Brierlow Dale, and walked to the bottom of Deep Dale and then onto Miller's Dale. The second day we simply walked the loop over to Longnor to the pub. Walking in February, all of the ground was very soft underfoot, so be prepared to be muddy - perfect for the Springer Spaniel though. Dogs welcome in every pub!

Unfortunately the Pack Horse Inn next door was closed for the February half-term, and the proximity to a good pub was the main reason we had booked the cottage. Lots of other businesses were only open Thursday-Sunday, and so many pubs have closed in the area that it is essential to book any meal on Friday-Sunday (everywhere was too crowded) and check ahead to see if they are open.

"Quaint cottage in lovely location"

8.0

Rose cottage was quaint and in a lovely location. The pub next door was great and it was nice to sit out the front of the cottage and admire the view. We popped into the nearby village on our first afternoon which was worth a visit. It was suitably equipped for our two night break to visit Alton Towers and we loved the log fire.

"Cosy cottage, great for a little country getaway"

It was handy being next to a pub, could of benefited from a little garden area especially as dog friendly.

Wifi very poor. Stairs for upper level very steep

This is our second stay at Rose Cottage and we would not hesitate in booking again. Love the cottage, the location and the pub is always welcoming. A great place to explore the peaks from. In fact, I might just go and check availability for next spring...........
