Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Minneapolis - Minnetonka by IHG

This was an enjoyable experience. They were doing some renovations but we were there on the weekend and everything was cleaned up neat as a pin. I would stay there again.

Major hotel renovations being done. Orbitz should let you know if hotel is being renovated! Electrical wires hanging out. Not finished. Missing light fixtures. Construction dust everywhere. Elevator not finished, builder boards for walls. Unsure if safe to use? Note said to only press level button once what happens if multiple push?

Reasonably close to Flying Cloud airport where I was based. The price was within budget, and there was a FedEx just across the street. I have to ship drives to HO whenever I fly and finding a FedEx after a long day in the air just adds to the work day. There were major renovations going on. Nothing structural, but all cosmetic. Some of the carpet had been replaced, other wasn't. Much of the paint was old and tired, and there were lots of scratches on walls, doors, and doorframes. But, it was all cosmetic. The staff were really nice, and apologized for the state of the hotel. I gather, from reading other reviews, that they are pretty adept now, as these cosmetic renos seem to have been going for over 6 months. however, cosmetic stuff didn't affect sleeping; the bed was comfortable enough (a little on the hard side for me as were the pillows). But..... the WiFi, or lack of it. Oh dear. 2 bars, 3 if I was REALLY lucky. As I need to flight plan every day as well as watch weather, these was a gigantic negative. Pages took minutes to load, making any planning a frustrating job. When I asked at the front desk I was given the number of Comcast and told to call them because they "could speed it up". Not sure how, it was a WiFi issue. However, I did what the hotel should have been doing and got nowhere with Comcast. In their defense, they offered to let me checkout that night without incurring any charges which was a good response - kudos for that! I opted to stay and checked out in the morning. I feel for the staff having to deal with this, though they never complained, but were trying to accommodate. Shame on management allowing this to continue. If you're expecting people to pay to stay, fix your stuff!!! Staff - 5*, Management - 0*

We stayed for a couple of hours and left because of the construction. Our entire hallway was stripped of carpeting, reeked of glue and construction smells. The room was ok initially, but the odors creeped in. This hotel should not have been open for business until the construction was complete.

Hotel has been undergoing renovations for I guess l er ONE YEAR! That would have been great to know! Rooms were freshly renovated, new carpet and furniture maybe. Walls were scuffed, room was very musty smelling. There was something under the carpet right by my bed, when I would get out of bed you could feel a big lump. Hallways were all torn up, no room numbers just tape with written numbers. I couldn’t believe they thought this was okay. Staff was great, but don’t open to the public in that state!
