Iona Residence - Donnini Apartments

Die Lage war wirklich sehr zentral, es wurde zügig auf Fragen geantwortet und es war eine sehr nette Nachbarschaft in einem ruhigen Haus.

Man hat den Eindruck, die Wohnung wurde einmal sehr hübsch zurecht gemacht und nun wird sie verwohnt und nur noch Geld aus ihr gezogen. Wenn überhaupt ein Fenster aufging dann nur etwas weil die Rollos so ungünstig angebracht waren, dass die Fenster sofort daran anstiessen. Es gingen nur zwei Heizkörper (Küche und Flur) und selbst auf das verweisen darauf wurde zwar sofort schriftlich reagiert und Tipps gegeben aber nichts weiter unternommen. Im Bad war noch nicht einmal ein Regler für die Heizung angebracht und im Schlafzimmer hat dieser nicht funktioniert. Der Ventilator im Bad hing halb aus der Wand raus und in einem Bad fehlte der Toilettenpapierhalter. Er lag in der Schublade. Die Ausstattung der Küche war sehr spärlich ausgestattet, beinahe alle Schränke waren leer. Wir hatten z. B. nur 2 Esslöffel (die Wohnung ist für 4 Personen vorgesehen), wir haben dann welche nachgekauft. Auch zu wenig Gläser sind vorhanden. Bei den Töpfen und Pfannen ist die Beschichtung total verkratzt, ich möchte nicht wissen, was man da alles mit isst. Es gibt keine Kaffeemaschine aber das scheint so üblich zu sein. Der kleine Sessel, der auf den Bildern der Wohnung oft mit zu sehen ist, ist total durchgesessen und hat eine tiefe Delle. Das Fenster im Schlafzimmer mit dem großen Bett scheint falsch eingebaut, es zieht erheblich. Alle Decken sehen aus als hat es oben mal einen Wasserschaden gegeben. Der Balkon ist wirklich schlimm. Die ehemals, vermutlich schönen, Bretter sind abgenutzt und, ebenso wie die Möbel total voll mit Taubenmist. Wir haben die Balkontür einmal aufgeschlossen um Luft rein zu lassen aber weil sie so verzogen ist ließ sie sich leider nicht mehr abschließen. An vielen Stellen ist die Tapete abgerissen oder abgekratzt und nicht ausgebessert. Schade, das könnte eine wirklich tolle Wohnung sein! Aber man muss so ein Objekt eben auch pflegen! Ayr selbst hat die besten Zeiten vermutlich hinter sich. Es gibt überall einen großen Leerstand.

Apartment was mostly clean with a few exceptions. Close proximity to town and beds were comfortable. Had good facilities for cooking and overall apartment was nice.

Firstly check in was complex and not very well explained. You had to pay a security waiver which is normal on rentals but it wasn't explained I did ask. Check in details were only given once this was paid which led to a lot of confusion and stress as i was travelling. You have to go some distance away to collect keys ok if you have a car and are familiar with the town. I hate to think what it would have been like for someone elderly or with mobility issues and no transport. The other issue was balcony had nesting birds but looked like it had nit been cleaned in a very very long time. Pigeon poo is hazardous if left believe may lead to property being enviromentally unsafe to health. You certainly would not have been able to open the door to balcony for fresh air or to step out . My friend also had a bathroom fan fall on her in the ensuite and noise coming from this through the night. I also explained the stress on check in and the staff member i feel was condesending and rude . Gabbi was her name. I did ask if deposit needed to be paid with no response prior to check in . She then was rude when i explained it was not made clear. Be up front re deposit and complex check in please . Too many links over complex process think about elderly or those with no transport or who don't know the area.

The location of the apartment was perfect and the apartment was extremely clean.

No faults

Good communication from the hosts by email and the completion of 'boarding pass' information gave useful webpage outlining all the information on access and facilities. Also they courtesy called for updates. Spacious rooms, clean & tidy. Second TV in bedroom, handy for kids. Quiet location on seafront with easy walk to town centre and next to a leisure centre. Large bath towels!

The sofa in the lounge is also a sofa bed so wasn't very comfy for just sitting on (ok as a bed). Some minor niggles with worn out items e.g. window blind cords, extract fan, couple of chipped crockery items, sticking window.

Location

Beds uncomfortable,needs a bit of TLC in decor! On arrival at key nest,could not access key!agter 2 or 3 phone calls,had to wait for key to be delivered by hand! Not enough towels!
