This property is a lie . It’s not in bacalar it is in Buenavista . It’s a away from all the fine restaurants and fun activity from bacalar. Transportation is a huge issue and we’re charged to go back in forth $ 15 each trip . I don’t recommend no one to come here if it’s your first time here . It’s a waist and time consuming

"Quiet hotel in a small village "

6.0

Quiet little hotel near the lagoon witch does not have access to the actual lagoon. Keep in mind that none of the staff speak a word english, because of that you never knew what you will get for breakfast, what they want to say and so on..

"Hotel not for more than 2 days"

4.0

If you are waiting to spend a few days without Wifi, without TV, without cell phone signal, many mosquitoes, a bathroom that runs out of hot water, the water runs out, the toilet is damaged, the sink flushes water. But the staff is doing their best to serve you the best, even though they are receiving 50% of their salary for Covid-19. We were from Dec 27, 2020 to Jan 3, 2021, we did not know about the clubhouse until a day before and it was locked.

"No service, bad quality"

4.0

Booked 4 nights but only Stayed 2 nights, hotel did not do any cleaning of the room during my stay. Breakfast was included, but only available when the cook showed up somewhere around 9 to 9.30 am. Yes, the hotel is somewhat in nature, so bugs expected, be prepared to take lots of bug spray cause long sleeved shirts won’t do the job alone. Stay far away from this service less place.

The road to get there is bad. We had no idea about it and with a car with a low ground clearance, we had a bad time. Then, carrying the luggage from the parking lot to the room is not that easy. The area where the hotel is located is nice in general, I mean, the landscape is amazing. However, there are several things missing, i.e. we had to take into the room a chair and a table from the balcony so I could use my laptop. There's no access to mobile phone or mobile data and the WiFi service offered is horrendous. Also, we did not have our room cleaned during our time there. Finally, and, the worst that happened is that the manager, or who we think was the manager encouraged the guests to meet in the commong areas not respecting the current rules of maintaining social distancing. The food and the service from the restaurant was awesome.

"Buenavista Zika Club"

2.0

I like rustic hotels and often stay at small properties these days. This was not a good choice. I am not fancy or vindictive. I booked this hotel from the Belize border and arrived 40 minutes later. Despite my dissatisfaction, they would not refund my reservation. I understand that this WAS technically my fault due to booking a non refundable reservation, (40 minutes before) however, policy does not equal fairness or good customer service. Here are the reasons I wished to cancel immediately and then walked away from my money. For the $100 I spent here for nothing but WASTED TIME AND MOSQUITO BITES I feel fine telling you why. Good luck finding this hotel. Most of the streets into the Buena Vista area were blocked from the highway with branches and rocks...not sure if this is covid related but it was strange. The road to get to this hotel is EXTREMELY rough. If you have a sports car, you will destroy it. This place is located in the jungle and I was greeted by hordes of mosquitoes when I exited my vehicle. I was bitten 10-15 times within the 10 minutes I was here. I am from the Ottawa, Canada area originally and am no stranger to mosquitos. They would be intolerable here. You will not want to be outside. They had no food beyond breakfast and the town was very small. I would not feel confident of finding anything to eat as darkness was descending. The staff were nice and polite but the “Marketing Manager” was happy to take my money despite my obvious dissatisfaction. I did not even look at my room. I left and stayed at a mosquito free property in Chetumal. Stay in Bacalar if you come to this area. Stay away from here unless you want a sweet case of Zika in a town with nothing to eat and probable vehicular destruction. To cap things off, they somehow disabled my ability to leave a rating on hotels.com...so they can have it on every other platform. Any hotel that’s afraid of ratings is not worth patronizing. The front desk clerk was sweet and nice. The staff I saw were the same. But the cowardly manager who made them do her dirty work should be properly trained and this place needs to figure out food for late arrivals and mosquito control. The technology exists...do a google search. If someone shows up and does not want to stay here, give them their money back. If that is the case, you have failed as a resort....and as such, you need to revisit your business plan.

"Soooo nice!"

10.0

Such a nice little hotel, with a beautiful garden, spacious and clean cabanas and a nice lake house you can visit by a bike-ride through the jungle. Andrea is the best host you can wish for and you should definitely ask her to make you a 'all natural' margarita!

"❤️ jewel in middle of jungle ❤️"

10.0

We have amazing “gateway” their my wife. The staff is very kind and was waiting for us even we checkin at midnight! The Manager of the place “very sweet girl” was taking care of us personally and in collaboration with The Owner of the place even organize a romantic diner next to the fire pit for us!!!! *Extra fee apply* Can ask for better. Important to know if you are light sleeper, sometimes guests can be talking together by the fire pit or the eating place late or early in morning so this can be problematic but for us was not a problem. I may recommend to ask room upstairs to avoid a little bit this inconvenient exemple unit 2 or 4.
