Meals are excellent. Ingredients are fresh and seasonal. Staff are responsive and gracious. Lounge facilities are comfy and elegant. Selection of snacks are delicious. A variety of instant food available for midnight snacks. Food choices prepared by Chef Ito was superb.

This stay at Chatlet Ivy Jozankei Onsen was one of the best stays in any luxury boutique hotel around the world. As soon as we pulled into the drivel, the staff came running out to help meet us at the car and assisted with our bags immediately. Attentive staff, beautiful location right next to the river and a wonderful Kaiseki style dinner (and breakfast) at Zui. The food was excellent, both for Japanese pallets (like mine) or my wife who is a foreigner, using local seasonal ingredients. We stayed 2 nights, so the menus changed each evening a breakfast, which was very nice. Great Hokkaido wine pairing with dinner the first night, then a Nihonshu Sake pairing the next night. Easy walk to most tourist areas and shopping in the area, so didn’t need to drive around (although parking for our car was free). Beautiful private onsen in the room (with a window that opens to the outside), with a view of the river below. Onsen on the first floor is also beautiful featuring inside and outside Rotenburo and had the whole place to myself. Highly recommended hotel and we will definitely be back again.

The resort/hotel was amazing! Worth every penny. The food was delicious, the spa relaxing, the room beautiful and the private onsen amazing! I did not want to leave.

Through no fault of the hotel- I believe the room above us had a small child that was running/stomping around. I was not able to nap. Perhaps families with kids could stay on the bottom floor. The staff explained everything about the room EXCEPT how to use the water for the private onsen. We figured it out but it would have been great to be shown.

Amazing.property and staff. Not westernized, so either ask for.a.western breakfast, or get the traditional japonese. Our.corner.room.has a spa hot spring feed tub! A M A Z I N G! Its a little.drive from Sapporro, so.plan.a typical.chalet.on the riverside stay, or aboit $100 taxi to the big city. Great food, and the local town has a couple unique restaurants and coffee.shops. Japan.at its original finest! If tour seeing this.part.of Japan, I recommemd a stay here - we were 3 days, and with the SPA treatment, simply cant stop celebrating the choice

The facility is great, new and clean. The in-room onsen is very convenient for our family. The kids love onsen! And the food is exceptional especially the dinner

We stayed there on April 15-17 2025. The view is okay, not beautiful as in Winter.
