"A good affordable bed & breakfast but I would not choose again and would probably not recommend."

8.0

The location is great, the house is in front of a beautiful lake. We wanted to be close to Glencoe and to Ben Nevis, and this house met that need. It was 7min away from Ben Nevis and around 30 mins away from Glencoe Stop Dubh hike (all by car). The house is also right in Fort William, so less than 10mins away from grocery stores, Mcdolands & other restaurants. The breakfast was nice, we had a table assigned to our room, so no hassle with that. There was a choice of things to eat which was also nice. The host was very friendly, the check in was very smooth. The bathroom was very modern and nice. The bed was very large and comfy. We got water restocked and cups cleaned.

The room had "garden view" in the description, but the room was overlooking the parking lot from the main window and a tree from another window, so not much of a garden view. It was quite hot in the room, and while there is a fan, the guidelines strongly discourage from opening windows which felt a little restrictive, especially since opening a window in Scotland would solve the hot air issue immediately, as it is quite cold at night. There is no do not disturb sign, which is strange. As we were staying for 3 nights, we didnt really need any cleaning done. We also left all of our stuff out in the open, as there is no safe and no sign to have the room protected which felt a little off. A little unfortunate that we didn't get a table closer to the window with the view of the lake during breakfast. The breakfast options did not have enough protein. Breakfast had a lot of sweet things and bread, but nothing more like eggs or bacon or sausage or any other type of protein which was included in all other places we stayed at in the Highlands. I also did not really like that you have to check in by 7pm, otherwise you might be denied check in. I am pretty sure this information is only shared after you complete your booking (but maybe it is also stated in the listing and I missed it). This also felt restrictive and we had to rush our car ride from Edinburgh to Glencoe quite a bit to meet the 7pm deadline.
