Wonderful secluded resort with a great view. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We came for birding and it exceeded our expectations. Birding guides Fernando and Francisco are both very knowledgeable and eager to help us to find over 150 species of birds in 4 days. We started birding as soon as we were picked up in Belize City, all the way until we were dropped off 4 days later. The resort is eco-friendly and comfortable. There are a lot on on-site and off-site activities to choose from. We had thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Our family had an excellent stay here. Very clean, great food, friendly and very helpful staff, beautiful property, lots to do.... The 6 mile dirt road to get there is a bit challenging but totally worth it!

Cabins blend into surrounding nature with private balcony where we could sit and observe birds. Staff arranged activities and transportation with our interests and needs in mind. Food was tasty and varied by the day.

Loved it! Amazing location and property. Beautiful room surrounded by lush vegetation with the sound of the river. Food was amazing and service excellent. Staff were super helpful in scheduling activities and our covid tests to return home. Only negative is the long bumpy road to get in and out but it’s a small price to pay for the opportunity to stay there. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

"Great Jungle Retreat with a Legendary Staff"

10.0

Our family had a great time at Black Rock. Usually with a place like this, the first thing to mention is the scenery (which is pretty breathtaking). However the staff stole the show during our staff. Amilcar, Esceseras, and Lyod were amazing in making our family feel at home in the jungle. Whether it was comforting at dinner a cranky 5 year who had a long day or helping our 7 year old up a steep hill on a hike, the folks at Black Rock really went above and beyond. The sights and sounds of the jungle were certainly an unforgettable experience. From the toucans to the humming birds to the howling monkeys we heard at night, we will remember our stay for a long time. Plus the hiking around the lodge is awesome as is the nearby Mayan ruins. The only downsides are the road into the lodge from the highway is a bit rough if you aren't used to driving on unpaved roads. Also the hot water is a bit hit or miss but of course when staying in a remote lodge, these small issues are to be expected. Overall we can't wait to go back!

Best vacation of my life thanks to Black Rock - the staff being one of the highlights of the trip. I loved having breakfast in the morning light completely immersed in the rainforest. The location of this property was a huge plus as it was right in the action of the rain forest and away from any busy roads or crowds. Totally serene. My parter and I especially loved jumping off the rope swing and floating on tubes in the river. Visiting the nearby Maya ruins with tour guide Francisco was unforgettable. Thank you!! Can't wait to come back soon with the rest of my family.

We just stayed a short three nights at this beautiful place and wish we had more! There is so much to do here but we managed to cram a lot in! First, the location is 6 miles on a bumpy dirt road off the main highway but worth it. The views and location are really one of a kind, even compared to other resorts in the area. Stunning! The staff have all been impeccable, especially our tour guide Roque, who took us exploring every day on our desired itinerary. We fortunately arranged to do the cave tubing and zip lining on the way in from Belize City, which was an excellent use of time since it's about halfway there and a good stopping point for a break from the car. Crazy way to break you in to Belizean adventure!! We were also fortunate to have a Saturday to head in to San Ignacio to visit the market and Mayan chocolate "class" - where it was also handy to do our covid tests for our return home. Our afternoon was spent enjoying the rope swing, paddle board, kayaks, and swimming at their river swimming hole - really a hit with the kids! The spring-fed, chemical-free pool was also delightful! And to top off the day, that night we did a night jungle watch and Roque showed us some fascinating (and scary) critters! Taranatulas, anyone? For our last day, we were hoping to experience the river tubing and kayaking but they said the level of the river was dependent on the hydroelectric dam and usually they don't release much water on Sundays. Well our luck was with us and the water le
