Fuji House

The building and room have a traditional style that make it such a great experience to stay here. The staff were friendly, accommodating, responsive to messages, and gave great recommendations.

Was a walkable location in a lovely quiet area.

Great location for seeing the preserved old city areas of Takayama, and for side trips to Shirakawago and Hirayu Onsen. The owner, Takashi, is fantastic - very welcoming, very helpful with good local knowledge. The guesthouse is very clean and very comfortable. Would stay here again and recommend to others!

Fuji house is in a beautiful old building in the old town. We arrived in a snow storm to a warm welcome. The futon was very comfortable, and the facilities were fine. There is a characterful little burger joint just down the street, and lovely old interesting streets all around to explore.

The place is a little bit cold, but the bedrooms warmed up nicely.

This was a delightful stay at a traditional guest house within walking distance of Takayama's historic district. The rooms were cozy, with tatami mats, comfortable futons and shogi screens, and the heating/AC kept it toasty warm. The host was friendly and I really enjoyed our conversations, especially since he was so patient with my learner-Japanese!

Getting down the steep stairs to the bathrooms overnight could be awkward.
