Beautiful room, very comfortable, convenience for nature reserve

Good location not far from the M6 motorway near Carnforth. Plenty of parking at the back of the hotel. Attractively decorated bedrooms and public spaces which also bear witness to the historic aspects of the building. Very good menu with a sensible choice of dishes which, based on our experience, were nicely cooked and presented. This is an excellent place to stay and offers good value for money. We would be very happy to return in future

We had stayed a year ago when the New Inn had not long been opened and they were not serving evening meals midweek. However, they now serve on a Thursday and we enjoyed a really delicious dinner. Different room to last time (think I preferred the first room), but clean and nicely furnished.

Last time we stayed, the breakfast was excellent offering a choice of fruit, homemade granola as well as cooked food. I also remember some lovely marmalade/jam. This time sadly, it was bog standard cereal and no fruit. The cooked breakfast was nice, but the toast was just plonked on top of the breakfast and not served separately. We were not offered a choice of bread and a no one appeared again after the food had been served to ask if we would have liked more toast and indeed marmalade. The photos of lovely jars of seeds and jams and the pastries that are depicted in the booking.com entry, were not evident when we stayed. It may be that we were unfortunate and that it is still serving as good a breakfast as it did when it first opened, but it is little details like this that suggest it is not quite as nice as it once was which is a shame.

Very clean, lovely room, great staff, excellent food (dinner and breakfast). Easy parking with lots of space.
