The Notary Hotel, Philadelphia, Autograph Collection

We reserved two rooms (connected) for a Thanksgiving trip to see family. At first things went great, however, when we awoke after our second night, we found a reddish-brown bug crawling on a pillow. In the photos you will clearly see this is a bed bug. We immediately informed the front desk who seemed to take it seriously. We requested that both rooms be moved to a new floor far away from our current room and were told that the staff would take care of it immediately. However, when we returned later that night, they had only moved 1 room one door down. So, both rooms were still right next to where the bed bug was found. We said we wanted the new rooms far away from the bugs and after 30 minutes we were given new rooms. Upon entering 1 of the new rooms, we found dirty towels on the bathroom floor and shower further raising the cleanliness of this property. Fast forward to today. I just phoned the property because, being so loyal to Marriott for the past 30 years this stay was particularly troubling. Bed bugs and a dirty replacement room are definitely concerns that management should know about. I spoke with someone named Liz who claims the bug we saw was not a bed bug. So now we are home, our luggage is in our garage, and we are purchasing items to clean our clothes, kill any potential bugs and/or eggs and generally prevent possible infestation at our house. Liz's response? No concern, no sympathy. Her position was "that wasn't a bed bug and here's $100." Big fat no to the $100. Keep your money. I'll let the reader decide if the attached pictures are bed bugs.

Location was ideal. It is a classy older hotel. Although they charge a “destination fee” it was offset by daily $15 credit for food and drink. There is a very handy coffee bar in the lobby and two coffee and 2 scones came in at just under the daily $15 credit. Bathroom had nice strong water pressure.

Housekeeping seemed slow. Two days we were out sightseeing, leaving around 10:30AM and returning about 3pm. The room had not been serviced by then. We are not messy, but trash needed to be collected, Kleenex replenished, some towels swapped out, etc. it seems like a popular hotel for business travelers, so more staff would help. The room could use a bit more lighting for night time. Was hard to see outlets for example.

Been to this hotel a few times but not as good this time. Staff at front of house excellent they helped my husband sort his spectacles when the leg fell off. Rooms could do with a refresh very dusty and don’t think housekeeping was up to speed. We always tip housekeeping but didn’t like that there was a small envelope to leave a tip and written on it please put in $10 so I through in the bin. Excellent location. But I think if we come back to Philadelphia we would go elsewhere.

Поздний заезд и ранний выезд. Из-за этого в фойе отеля скапливается большое количество людей, так как они вынуждены ждать Check-in который начинается в 16. Такое ощущение будто ты находишься на вокзале. В баре невозможно заказать напиток, т к большая очередь. В номере нет халатов и тапочек. Никто не помогает с багажом.

The Notary Hotel was negligent in informing their occupants about the scheduled road closures (due to a large parade) in case there were important meetings, appointments, surgeries, etc. Especially since the hotel had been informed and aware of Wills Eye Hospital patients having limited mobility, and physical limitations, while being instructed to stay away from public, due to safety concerns. The legal question is: what is the extent of hotel’s obligation and responsibility for providing safety, care, and satisfaction to Wills Eye Hospital patients undergoing cancer surgeries while being paid for these services?

The Notary is in an excellent location in Philadelphia. Walkable to many tourist spots, like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, etc. Our room was beautiful. It was large, with an extended sitting room that was very comfortable, almost like a living room in your room. We loved it. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again when in Philadelphia.

Everything was excellent!

The central location to the city,its excellent Staff persons from the front desk, restaurant, and room staff,Reading Marketplace ,two Metro Stops Maggianos and historic feel was a winner.🏆 Will be back on my Philadelphia returns.

The no ice in the bins on the floor(Charlene made up for that and brought me ample ice to my room).
