It was in a perfect location. Our view of Clifford Tower was amazing. The room was so nice and comfortable. Very nice amenities!

We had to leave!

Returning to the Hilton York after all these years was far more than a simple holiday; it was a true journey back in time and a deeply moving experience. Exactly thirty years ago, my wife used to work within these very walls, back when the hotel was known by its historic name, Stakis. Seeing how emotional she became stepping across that threshold once again, remembering her youth and those old days, made this stay incredibly special and close to our hearts.Although the management has transitioned to Hilton over the decades, the hotel has beautifully preserved the soul of hospitality that distinguished it back then, while elevating it to excellent modern standards.Our room was absolutely wonderful: spacious, immaculate, and equipped with every comfort needed for total relaxation. A special mention must go to the breakfast—rich, varied, and prepared with top-quality ingredients. It far exceeded our expectations.Finally, the location remains the hotel's ultimate trump card. Situated in an exceptional, strategic spot, it allowed us to explore the beautiful city of York entirely on foot, being just a short walk away from all the major historic attractions.Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff for making this emotional homecoming so perfect. Highly recommended.

Good location

Very out dated and the bed was very uncomfortable We dropped something on the floor and when we went for it under the bed was filthy

Location was excellent. It would have been helpful to have takeaway maps at reception. The room was quite basic but as expected - it was very quiet and easy to access via lift. Breakfast was good.

A little more variety at breakfast for those who are gluten free. Eg. gf bread that we could have toasted ourselves rather than having to ask a member of staff to toast some rolls. Also gf sausages would be good.

Staff were lovely location was great and the cleanliness was excellent
