The Watergate Hotel

So, I've wanted to stay here for awhile so I had a quick solo trip and proceeded to book. I checked in late (after 10 pm) . The first issue is they are doing major renovations. Your Uber can't pull into the main circle leading up to the hotel entrance. U have to be let out on the street and walk up to the hotel with no signage and its dark! I prepaid for a room with a tub. The room they gave me was super small and no tub or view. They apologized and said for 20 dollars more a day I can upgrade which was ridiculous. I went to the new room which did have a tub and partial view. She also gave me a late check out for the inconvenience. On to the next day... I went to the bar and had a mimosa and it was 20 dollars... The indoor pool option & jacquzzi was amazing! However they literally only had 4 lounge chairs. I thought about a massage.. starting price was 280 for 30 minutes! I wanted to go to the rooftop for pics and but was closed. Came down for dinner around 9:40 and the restaurant was closed! It closed at 9. I complained b/c they told me it would be open until 10. The manager had the chef make me a burger and fries for 50 dollars. Final morning wanted room service for breakfast... 75 dollars for 2 eggs, potatoes and toast! Finally, the hotel is dead. No activity, no food and far from everything. Be prepared to pay ridiculous prices for food, drinks and anything else! Customer service was great but won't stay here again!!

The Watergate is a great place stay if you want to be close to the Georgetown Waterfront and the known sights in DC. Staying right on Virginia Ave allows you to walk 5 minutes to the waterfront where you can go for a wonderful walk into Georgetown for some coffee or shopping (why not both?!). If you walk 5 minutes the other way you will hit the Kennedy Center. One of the most underrated places in DC. Go to the rooftop for sunset- you won't regret it. Most people don't know that it's completely free and open to the public, unless you are seeing a show! A 15 minutes walk away leads you to the Lincoln Memorial, currently under construction, but fingers crossed it's almost done. I'd recommend a late night monument walk there. Sitting on the cold marble and looking out towards to the Capital is truly amazing. Additionally, the rooms are fantastic. The beds are extremely comfortable. The only problem here was that we had requested feather free rooms, due to allergies, and the room was not properly prepared when we had gotten there. The bathroom is very nice. Great water pressure and my family loves their products. Food is good here too! My family ordered room service, which they enjoyed. When we had eaten at Kingbird, they took my allergy card and worked with me to make something I would be pleased with. The rooftop has great views of the city, but the drinks are expensive, just a heads up! The facilities are fantastic. The pool, sauna and hot tubs are a must!!

Amenities in the room were very nice quality, slippers, loofah, and toiletries. I was overcharged for car parking on check out when they asked if I had any extras. Hotel refunded it right away but my overseas bank took an extra procedure fee as a result of this misunderstanding. Room was a suite but the hallway between had no light. View was excellent.

We were pleasantly surprised on our stay at the Watergate. The rooms still have authentic touches and style with a modern twist. It is great to stay at a property with original charm and not “cookie cutter”. The service was very personal and the couple of issues we had were resolved and handled in the most professional way. The gym and spa were great in which we used frequently during our 6 day stay. The location was safe and close to Georgetown and many restaurants within 10 minutes of walking.

The Watergate was a lovely experience. The mod 60s design was thoughtful and playful, with vintage detail even refelcted in staff attire. We enjoyed the amenities: the room's storage space, the rooftop's comprehensive view, the spa and fitness center all met our expectations. The King Bird was a pleasant surprise both in quality and service. On our arrival day, our entertainment plans were unexpectedly cancelled by the performer but we were lucky enough that Yab was helping us to our room and willing to go above and beyond which saved our evening. Thanks to his helpfulness and quick thinking we found an alternative jazz venue which turned out to have one of our favorite pianists playing! We had one of our most streamlined and efficient departures with no wait time. A nice historic stay within steps to the Kennedy Center and Georgetown.

Pool and spa is in the basement. Yuck.

Great location and service was wonderful

What was unique is all of the service wanting to set up your room service in your room actually have a table to eat. It was so elegant and so well put together. Everything we asked for was delivered to us. Even the microwave.

I love staying in a scandalous room. All in all, the service was excellent.
